The Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday waived wide receiver Davion Davis. Davis, 22, has appeared in two games this season and tallied a season-high nine snaps against the Cowboys on Sunday night. A corresponding roster move was not announced. However, the transaction could be an indication that wide receiver Josh Doctson will soon be activated from injured reserve and placed on the team’s 53-man roster.

It’s easy to forget how busy the 2018 offseason was for the Minnesota Vikings. In a span of just a few months the team hired a new offensive coordinator, signed a franchise quarterback in free agency, moved into a new headquarters, tragically lost a beloved position coach and also handed out some hefty contract extensions to deserving veterans. Maybe that’s why this offseason seemed a little “quiet” to the average fan.

The Minnesota Vikings on Monday removed cornerback Mike Hughes from the physically unable to perform list. It’s the first step in Hughes returning to game action. Hughes tore his ACL and also suffered ligament damage to his knee in a game last September. Now, he’s cleared to return to practice.

The Minnesota Vikings on Thursday claimed offensive lineman Tyler Catalina off waivers. Catalina was waived by the Washington Redskins on Wednesday after they acquired Donald Penn. Catalina (6-6, 315) joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He played his final season of college football at Georgia after playing his first three seasons at Rhode Island. As a Bulldog he started 12 games at left tackle.
