In only four days the Vikings roster will be cut down from 88 players to 53. By 3pm (CST) on Saturday the regular season squad, along with a 10-man practice squad, will be assembled. The team began trimming the fat on Tuesday, releasing cornerback Bene Benwikere and wide receiver Jordan Taylor. With roster cuts soon approaching, let’s take a final look at how the final 53 could unfold.

The Minnesota Vikings made four transactions in the day leading up to training camp. They waived running back Roc Thomas and added guard Tiano Pupungatoa, then waived safety Micah Abernathy and acquired running back De’Angelo Henderson. Now, a few days into training camp, the team roster sits at an offseason maximum 90 players. To get caught up on who’s all on the team, let’s take a look at the current players that comprise the roster. To make things a little more interesting, I’ve noted which players will become free agents following the season and also added my 53-man projection. The Vikings will trim down the roster to 53 players on August 31st (3pm CST deadline).

There’s no question that a certain position group has plagued the Minnesota Vikings in recent years. The offensive line has been like a crack in the ceiling that keeps getting worse. You hope it’ll just go away but sooner or later you’ll have to patch it. Over time you’ll find out if your patchwork will hold or if you need to find a new way to repair it. Ultimately you’ll find out whether or not it’s part of a much bigger issue.

The Minnesota Vikings on Thursday bolstered the depth of the offensive line, signing free agent guard Dakota Dozier. Terms of the deal were not announced. Dozier, 27, spent the first five seasons of his NFL career with the New York Jets, the team that drafted him in the fourth-round of the 2014 draft.
