What the People Are Saying: 8 Vikings Predictions for 2025
The people lock into their top takes for the 2025 Vikings.

1. J.J. McCarthy Takes the Cake from the 2024 QB Class
Who Said It?
Bruce Johnson | @sachikojohnson
J.J. McCarthy will be widely regarded as the best QB in his draft after this season.
2. The Vikings Win Week 1 at CHI
Who Said It?
Ivan, Czar of Bohunks | @up4discussion_7
The Vikings start the season 1-0 over the Bears on Monday Night Football. Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson will click at some point this season, but the Brian Flores defense will have their number in the first week.
3. Minnesota Wins the NFC North
Who Said It?
Jens from Norway | @rednpurple77

The NFC North will send four teams to the playoffs, but the Vikings are winning the division, with a 12-5 record.
4. Vikings Start at Least 4-1, Win at Least 11 Games
Who Said It?
Steve Berglund | @VikesIn18
The Vikings start the season at least 4-1, and I really think they’re going to be 5-0. They win a minimum of 11 games and secure the division title.
5. Minnesota Reaches Playoffs for 2nd Year in a Row
Who Said It?
Tadd | @st7cubs
Simple prediction: Vikings make the playoffs. Doesn’t sound huge, but in a tough division and with no back-to-back appearances in 16 years, it will feel great when they accomplish it.
6. It’s 4-2 in the Division
Who Said It?
Skol Tom | @SkolfromWI

The Vikings will go 4-2 in the division this season. They’ll split with the Lions and Packers and sweep the Bears. Now, I think there’s a good chance they can sweep the Packers, too, but staying sensible, I’ll say they split.
NFL Spin Zone‘s Lou Scataglia picked the Lions to win the North this week and opined: “The Detroit Lions are going to regress a bit in the 2025 NFL Season, as it seems like the injury bug is still lingering around, and both Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson are no longer in the picture, as they both scored head coaching jobs this offseason.”
“Detroit is still a supremely talented team with a franchise QB, solid trench play, and great weapons, so I would not expect this team to regress a ton. They’ll win 11 games and narrowly capture the NFC North title for the third year in a row.”
7. The Playoff Drought Ends
Who Said It?
Eric Horstman | @ehorstman23
My prediction is that the Vikings win at least one playoff game this season. The talent and coaching are too good to fall short again this year. The moment will not be too big for J.J. McCarthy when he gets there, and the whole team will handle the pressure well. SKOL.
8. Jordan Mason Takes Over the RB1 Job
Who Said It?
Chris | @Skol227
Jordan Mason takes over RB1, and Darrisaw/O’Neil both make the Pro Bowl.
Pro Football Network‘s Jordan Katz wrote about Mason this week: “The Vikings sought him out, trading for him to make a backfield duo with Jones. Reports from camp are that this will be a 50-50 split, but I’d expect Jones to get the favorable carries early on.”
“Regardless, Mason is much younger, and Jones has dealt with injuries throughout his career and turns 31 by the end of the season. Coming off a career-high workload, it’d be surprising to see Jones keep near that number of touches again. Even with that, I’d expect Mason to be the more dominant red-zone threat.”

Minnesota obtained Mason via trade from the San Francisco 49ers in March for a 6th-Round pick.
“This team will want to keep their young quarterback, J.J. McCarthy, out of harm’s way, and the best way to do so is to hammer the run game, especially near the goal line. Mason went for under 900 total yards in just six starts last year,” Katz continued.
“With the gained experience and upgrade along the line on a suspected run-heavier team, he’ll be a useful fantasy asset even if he splits time with Jones, but he offers the upside of an RB1 if he takes on a larger role.”
Minnesota’s first regular season game is just eight days away.
