It won’t take long to arrive at the Minnesota Vikings’ regular season. The first game, a contest at the Chicago Bears, is 15 days away.

Fans weigh in on the Vikings’ 2025 season, predicting their win-loss record and expectations for how the team will fare through the upcoming season.

Each summer, usually after the preseason games, we asked a panel of fans to predict the purple team’s win-loss record. Last year, the group was low on the squad, mainly because J.J. McCarthy had just been lost for the season with a torn meniscus and nobody truly trusted Sam Darnold. The panel, through averages, picked an 8-9 record.

The Vikings later finished 14-3.

Here’s what the group said for 2025.

The Minnesota Vikings’ record will be 10-7 with some heartbreakers. If the Vikings get consistent and decent QB play, they are going to be very dangerous and a contender.

The schedule is brutal, but they’ve got too much talent to fall out of the playoff race.

11-6 and winning the division. Ben Johnson will cause a swing between the Lions and Bears, and the Packers are bound for the basement. Skol!

NFL writer Sayre Bedinger ranked the Vikings as the league’s seventh-best team this month and explained: “The Minnesota Vikings are another team I’ve been rather hard on this offseason, but their cornerback group is not good (on paper) and they’re breaking in a redshirt rookie at the quarterback position.”

“I’ve said it time and time again that Kevin O’Connell deserves the benefit of the doubt, and so does this roster. But the Vikings are down Jordan Addison at the start of the year, and any struggles from McCarthy will potentially be amplified by this team’s inability to defend the pass. The Vikings need a lot to go right this season but they could still win 10 games and get into the playoffs.”

There will be a rough patch in the middle, but J.J. McCarthy will figure it out.

I’m going to go with 11-6 this year. I think they may have a better record than that, but the schedule is a lot tougher on paper, and I’m sure there will be some bumps in the road with J.J. McCarthy at some point. But there’s too much talent and great coaching for them to have anything under 10 wins in my opinion.

I thought the defense would carry them last year, and it only got better again. Defense will still be the key for them to make a deep run this year. SKOL!

Normally, near the end of the preseason, I sit down with my notebook and a beer and predict every NFL game. I haven’t been able to do so yet, but I’ll throw out a prediction just for the Vikings. The Minnesota Vikings will finish 11-6 this year under the leadership of J.J. McCarthy.

This team has the pieces to make a late-season push, although I would expect a slightly slower start with Addison being out. It’s difficult to predict any better than that, but I think the ceiling could be another 13-win season if we get a few breaks throughout the year.

NFL Spin Zone‘s Lou Scataglia noted on Minnesota last week: “The Minnesota Vikings won 14 games in the 2024 NFL Season thanks to an insanely productive year from Sam Darnold. Darnold signed with the Seattle Seahawks in free agency, and the Vikings now have pivoted to JJ McCarthy, their de facto rookie quarterback.”

“McCarthy might be good. He might also be terrible; we just do not know yet. We can’t really rank the Vikings any higher than this given how much of an unknown their young QB is. On paper, the Vikings could be a contender, as the rest of the roster is quite good.”

Record: 12-5

Vikes start out 5-0 and cruise to division title, clinching on Christmas Day with a win over Lions. 12-5.

Overall Verdict from Fans: 11-6
