This comes down to schedule, my lack of confidence in Sam Darnold under pressure (if any of these games are close at the end), and the big questions on defense. The schedule has the Vikings facing some very elite quarterbacks, and because of my lack of faith in our defense — not in Flores — I do not feel like it will be a happy season.

A tough schedule and, in particular, a tough division. Unproven QB in a QB league. I probably have never been so pessimistic, which may mean they’ll be good. Who knows?!

The cornerback and quarterback positions are struggling and running thin. Hopefully, this season will set them up for next season, but maybe they will catch lightning in a bottle with Darnold. SKOL!

While I don’t think the Vikings are a playoff team, there are too many good pieces for me to get super negative on things.

I think the Vikings will go 8-9, missing the postseason and a top draft pick, because this team is too talented to tank and too bad to win it all. Story of our lives!

The Vikings play some good teams and some up-and-comers that may be that much better with second-year rookie QBs. Now that the starting pressure has been removed from Darnold, one wonders if it would have been better for his performance to have some of that.

Minnesota QB Sam Darnold and RB Aaron Jones addressed the media from the TCO Performance Center on Thursday, March 14th. Both players became Vikings after Alexander Mattison and Kirk Cousins left during the 2024 offseason.

Darnold looks competent because of Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Aaron Jones, and Kevin O’Connell.

This might be too much of a homer prediction, but I don’t believe it’s unrealistic. I think the defense will be the strongest part of the team this year and be able to close out games. The weapons on offense will help Darnold out enough to be this year’s Baker Mayfield, especially when T.J. Hockenson and Jordan Addison return healthy.

The Vikings are going to pull out a few upset wins. Most teams will feel like we are a mess and underestimate us. While we currently are a mess, we’re still really good. We lose the last four games because conference rivals won’t underestimate us at the end of the season.

Because I have faith in having good weapons besides him — Sam Darnold should do decent. Plus, signing Matt Corral gives us another option we haven’t seen before!

Minnesota Vikings Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores addressed the media from the TCO Performance Center on July 25th, 2024. Flores was hired in February 2023 to take over for Ed Donatell after Minnesota finished 30th in points allowed.

The league has proven that great coaches lead their team to great things. I believe in Kevin O’Connell and Brian Flores.

Overall Verdict from Fan Average = 8-9
