3 Winners from the Minnesota Vikings’ Preseason Finale

The Minnesota Vikings concluded their preseason schedule on Friday night with an exhibition against the Tennessee Titans.
Ultimately, the Vikings lost the matchup by a score of 23-13, but a few players shined through the defeat to potentially impress enough and claim spots on the final 53-man roster. Here is a look at a few of the winners from Friday’s game.
QB Max Brosmer

What can be said about the undrafted rookie out of the University of Minnesota that hasn’t already been mentioned? Max Brosmer continues to show poise and strong quarterback instincts in the pocket, looking more like a seasoned veteran than a player who is getting his first taste of the NFL.
Brosmer was impressive again on Friday night, actually earning a chance to start the final preseason game and getting a chance to play against a few of Tennessee’s defensive starters. He finished the night completing 15 of his 23 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown.
In total, Brosmer finishes the preseason completing 60.3% of his passes for 364 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception and has forced the Vikings to consider him for the QB3 role. He may have won the job after Friday’s showing.
DT Elijah Williams

Another UDFA, Elijah Williams has risen through the ranks in Minnesota and has firmly pressed himself into the battle for the final defensive tackle spots on this fall’s roster.
Williams has shown great hustle and grit all summer on his way to this point, and he turned in another solid game on Friday night after putting together five tackles last week against the New England Patriots. This week’s game included an impressive contribution on special teams as he recorded a tackle on a kickoff return.
It’s just further proof that Williams is going to do whatever he needs to in order to contribute to the team, and he very well could be on his way to making the roster.
P Ryan Wright

It was murky for awhile this summer, but Ryan Wright may have officially locked down the punting job on Friday night. He was the only Viking to punt during the game, and on both of his kicks, he pinned the Titans inside their own 20.
Touchbacks have been an issue for Wright in those situations during his career, so that was a promising development for the fourth-year player. Expect him to return for the Vikings this fall.
