Camryn Bynum Just Threw Shade at the Vikings

He likely didn’t mean it as too much of an insult, but by complimenting his current team, the Indianapolis Colts, this week, safety Camryn Bynum threw a little shade at his former team, the Minnesota Vikings.
Former Minnesota Vikings safety Camryn Bynum plays for the Colts these days, and in a roundabout way, he fanned some shade at his old team this week.
Bynum basically said he’s never been a part of a team quite as good as the 2025 Colts, which would disqualify the 2022 and 2024 Vikings from his personal power rankings.
The 2025 Colts Are the Place to Be, per Camryn Bynum
Never mind his 13- and 14-win Vikings teams.

Camryn Bynum Says 2025 Colts Are the Best Team He’s Ever Played On
Indianapolis has a fancy 4-1 record entering Week 6, and Bynum — never shy in front of a microphone — wasn’t afraid to brag about it. Bynum went so far as to say that the 2025 Colts are the best team he’s ever worked for.
“We got cold corners, cold pass rush, every single receiver, every single one of y’all is cold. So it’s just the most complete team I’ve ever been a part of,” Bynum told the Downs to Business podcast, a show hosted by his Colts wide receiver teammate Josh Downs.
And there you have it: Per Bynum, the 2025 Indianapolis team clears the 2022 and 2024 versions in Minnesota.
Bynum Played on Some Decent Vikings Teams
For Bynum to declare the bold statement about his current squad, well, it’s a polite shot at his past purple squads.
His 2022 team in Minnesota finished 13-4 — out of nowhere — winning close games left and right and defying the odds to win the NFC North. Then, last season, one that Bynum will remember well, the Vikings produced a 14-3 record with Sam Darnold at the helm. Heading into 2024, Darnold was still considered the bust version of himself, so running the win total to 14 games turned heads.
Bynum also played on the NFL’s second-best defense last year per EPA/Play. For him to say the quiet part out loud about the Colts really shows Indianapolis’ ceiling. That team could be legitimate.
The Skinny on the Colts
Here’s where Indianapolis ranks among the league’s main statistical metrics:
- Offense DVOA: 2nd
- Points Scored: 2nd
- Offense EPA/Play: 2nd
- Overall Team DVOA: 3rd
- Points Allowed: 3rd
- Defense EPA/Play: 4th
- Defense DVOA: 5th
- Special Teams DVOA: 13th

So maybe the guy is onto something. Aside from defensive marks, the 2025 Vikings don’t quite approach the impressive level of those stats.
Playoff Odds
What about the postseason? There are numbers for that probability, too.
According to DVOA, Indianapolis is in the driver’s seat to reach the playoffs, possessing a 79.9% chance of reaching the dance. Per sportsbooks, Bynum’s team has an 82.4% chance of playing meaningful January football, which would mark its first trip to the postseason since 2020, when Philip Rivers led the club at quarterback.

Colts Power Rankings
NFL.com’s Kevin Patra called the Colts the league’s eighth-best team entering Week 6 and explained, “Even if it came against a down-and-out Las Vegas team, this was exactly the kind of performance you wanted to see from Indianapolis. Coming off the loss to the Rams in which the Colts truly beat themselves, they took control of Sunday’s game and never let up.”
“The entire arc of this season has changed in such short order, with Daniel Jones commanding the offense and no one talking about pressure on Shane Steichen. The defense and special teams have given Jones and the offense excellent field position and extra possessions, and Jonathan Taylor remains an elite back. The way things are going, Indy legitimately could — and perhaps should — be 6-2 or 7-1 heading into Pittsburgh in Week 9.”

Bleacher Report plopped Indianapolis at No. 7: “The Indianapolis Colts flexed their muscle in front of their home crowd in a dominant victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Daniel Jones looked comfortable in the pocket; he didn’t take a sack. Jonathan Taylor scored three rushing touchdowns. The defense forced a couple of turnovers and blocked a punt. The Colts have exceeded early expectations with a 4-1 record, and they’ve earned our respect with a top-10 ranking this week.”
Bynum’s team will host the maligned Arizona Cardinals this weekend and is favored to win by a touchdown.
