Is Jordan Addison Young — or Stefon Diggs V2?

When the Minnesota Vikings drafted Jordan Addison, they did so with the intention of pairing him alongside Justin Jefferson and creating an elite wide receiver duo. When the pair has been healthy, that has been what has happened. The problem is that the red flags continue to pop up with Addison.

Is Jordan Addison Young — or Stefon Diggs V2?

Not long after being drafted, Jordan Addison was caught speeding through Minneapolis. Just last week, he was then arrested on suspicion of DUI. Two strikes less than two years into the league is quite an impressive pace, and it’s something that may land the talented wideout in hotter water than he can handle.

Stefon Diggs often made his problems known for the Minnesota Vikings by struggling to put the team first. Looking for contracts, exposure, and everything else under the sun, Diggs forced his way out (and has since done so for other organizations). A mastermind of making things messy, Diggs often started with sideline tantrums before turning them into cryptic tweets and ultimately forced actions.

That’s not where Addison is — yet. At this point, he’s a kid who gained too much power and too much money, too fast. He clearly doesn’t know how to manage himself or his resources, and that’s a problem in and of itself. He has, however, touched on what his second contract may look like and hinted at making that process somewhat formidable.

There is still some time for maturation, and it would be wise for him to embrace that. Unfortunately, he didn’t show much of it in response to his recent arrest.

Deactivating his X (formerly known as Twitter) account is one thing, but scrubbing his Instagram account of all things Vikings seems unnecessary. It is no one’s fault but his that he chose to drink and drive. Whatever consequences or frustration his employer directs toward him would be well-warranted and probably too light.

Now, with the big $140 million payday, Jefferson cemented himself as a leader of the organization. Playing the same position as Addison, it would behoove the superstar to take the youngster under his wing and get his head on right. Addison continuing down this path will potentially negate any need to have second contract discussions, and a reputation like the one he is developing won’t go unnoticed.

Stefon Diggs worked his way out the longer he stayed around. Jordan Addison isn’t making friends in any of the right places, and mending some bridges would be a good idea.
