Packers Are Done; Vikings’ Work Has Begun
The Vikings and their fans watched week two of the NFL Playoffs from the sidelines, as their NFC North counterparts, the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions did battle against their foes in the Divisional Round. On Saturday, the Packers out-played the home-team San Francisco 49ers in a rain-soaked contest, but the Niners came back in the last minutes to steal and seal the win. Meanwhile, the Lions hosted the surprising Tampa Bay Buccaneers and outdueled them for a trip the NFC title game in San Francisco.
It should be a five-alarm alert that these divisional rivals were still playing this past weekend and their third rival, the Chicago Bears, have compiled plenty of draft capital to join these teams in looking to pass by the local 11. We raised the alarm last week, and we will continue to until proven otherwise—this week by looking at the fee agent makeup of the Vikings roster. Decisions on who to keep and who to acquire are crucial to the squad in 2024.
We here at the Vikings Territory Breakdown podcast (Joe Oberle, senior writer at vikingsterritory.com and purplePTSD.com and Mark Craig, NFL and Vikings writer for the Star Tribune and startribune.com) will also take an in-depth look at the Vikings defensive line, which is need of an upgrade and sure to be in flux this offseason.
We will also talk about the latest Kirk Cousins news (how can we claim to be a Vikings podcast without it) and recap all the NFL playoffs and other league news. So, tune into the VT Breakdown podcast and check it out.
