Lewis Cine Receives Endorsement from Future HOFer
The praise for new Minnesota Vikings safety Lewis Cine continues to roll in, most recently with an endorsement from free-agent cornerback Richard Sherman.
Cine was a guest on Sherman’s show, The Richard Sherman Podcast, this week, and the Super Bowl champion CB went out of his way to compliment Cine.
Sherman said, “I love [Cine’s] game and think he’s going to be a perfect pairing with Harrison Smith in Minnesota.”
The Vikings drafted Cine after a controversial trade with the Detroit Lions. During the last decade, Minnesota traded with Detroit a few times in the draft and landed players like Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter as a result. Still, some Vikings faithful criticized general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s willingness to slide down the draft board 20 spots while trading with a division foe.

Time will tell if Adofo-Mensah was wise or if fans were correct with the kneejerk assessments.
Regardless, the Vikings welcome a violent defensive playmaker to the depth chart. Cine will pair with Harrison Smith, as mentioned by Sherman, to patrol the backend of Minnesota’s secondary. Camryn Bynum is also on the depth chart — and he played well as a rookie in 2021 — but Cine’s upside is greater than Bynum’s.
Sherman’s laudation of Cine isn’t the first of its kind. Since chosen by the Vikings on April 28th, the Georgia Bulldog has been showered with compliments from all walks of NFL life.
Former quarterback and current NFL analyst Chris Simms called Cine his “man crush.”
Former fellow safety Ryan Clark didn’t use the term man crush, but he did call Cine a “baller.”
ESPN’s Jordan Reid nominated Cine as an “under the radar” talent during the lead-up to the draft.
And the grandest endorsement of them all, Hall of Fame corner Deion Sanders chimed in, too.
Cine was the first Vikings safety chosen with 3rd-Rounder-or-higher draft capital since Harrison Smith — 10 years ago.
