2018 NFL Draft: Vikings Select DE Jalyn Holmes
After trading out of the third round last evening, the Minnesota Vikings added some depth with their first day-three selection. With the 102nd pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Vikings picked defensive lineman Jalyn Holmes out of Ohio State. Holmes was a four-year player for the Buckeyes.

Holmes is 6-5, 280 pounds. He was a team captain at Ohio State. In 36 games he collected 85 tackles, including 15 for loss, with five sacks. He also batted down four passes and forced four fumbles.
At the NFL Combine, Hughes ran a 4.82 40-yard dash and put up 25 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. His arms were measured at 34 inches, giving Mike Zimmer another long pass rusher with a wide wing span.
The early consensus is that this is an “upside pick.” A little about Holmes, from Pro Football Focus:
The Minnesota Vikings go to the defensive line at Ohio State and add defensive end Jayln Holmes. Holmes tied for eighth in run-stop percentage among draft-eligible 4-3 defensive ends in 2017 (8.5)
