Released by the team Wednesday were the dates and opponents of the Minnesota Vikings preseason games. As always, the Vikings will have two home games and two away games in their tune-up for the 2018 season. Minnesota will face three AFC opponents and one NFC foe.

  1. Preseason Week 1 (Aug. 9-13): at Denver Broncos
  2. Preseason Week 2 (Aug. 16-20): vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
  3. Preseason Week 3 (Aug. 23-26): vs. Seattle Seahawks
  4. Preseason Week 4 (Aug. 30): at Tennessee Titans

Week 1 features an interesting storyline as the Vikings face the Denver Broncos and quarterback Case Keenum. It’s also a reunion for Vikings quarterback Trevor Siemian, who spent the last three years in Denver.

The Broncos are coming off a 5-11 season in 2017. The other two AFC teams, the Jaguars and Titans, each made the playoffs last season. Jacksonville finished with a 10-6 record during the regular season while the Titans went 9-7. The Seahawks also finished 9-7.

Since Mike Zimmer took over as head coach in 2014, the Vikings are 14-3 in preseason play.

The Vikings, who went 2-2 in the preseason last year, went on the finish the regular season with a record of 13-3. Although the season ended in familiar heartbreak fashion, the NFC North Division Champions experienced a year highlighted by more positives than negatives. Plus, the front office had a particularly strong offseason.

After a busy free agency period highlighted by the acquisitions of quarterback Kirk Cousins and defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson, the team has to feel it’s in a favorable position to succeed. Will 2018 finally be the Vikings’ year?

According to the team’s official website, all Vikings preseason games can be seen locally on KMSP Fox 9 TV and can be heard on KFAN-FM 100.3, KTLK-AM 1130 and the Vikings Radio Network.
