Brian Flores is Extended as Sam Darnold Heads to the Super Bowl

Vikings Territory Breakdown

BREAKING (of hearts): The Vikings are out of the Super Bowl this season. We have known this for some time as they were eliminated long before the regular season ended. But some former Vikings made it: former Vikings quarterback and current Seattle Seahawk Sam Darnold will face off against New England Patriots Garrett Bradbury (C) and (WR) Stephon Diggs (the first two players were Vikings last season, the latter, Diggs, stills holds a spot in the recent memory of Vikings fans with his TD catch of the Minneapolis Miracle). So, what does Purple Nation think of this? Who will they cheer for? They can’t all lose.

That is just one of the burning questions this week, as we head to the big game on February 8th.  How are the Vikings fans doing with the fact that Darnold, the player all the talking heads are saying (without context) the Vikings “gave up on?” The fellas at the Vikings Territory Breakdown podcast, Joe Oberle, senior writer at vikingsterritory.com and purplePTSD.com and Mark Craig, NFL and Vikings writer for the Star Tribune and startribune.com) plan to discuss that—and add some context.

They also plan to discuss the coaching carousel, which has really heated up, and thus far doesn’t include Brian Flores as one of the prospective head coaches riding it. So far, six of the 10 openings for head coach around the league have been filled, but B-Flo signed an extension with the Vikings as their defensive coordinator. His extension does include a proviso that allows Flores to take a head coaching spot if offered, so the Vikings and their fans are not out of the Bye-bye B-Flo woods yet. We will update the spinning carousel and talk about this ongoing Purple saga. Tune in and check it out. Skol
