Ex-Vikings QB Begins a New Football Chapter

In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings landed wideout Jordan Addison in the first round. After some attention to the defensive side of the ball, GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah selected quarterback Jaren Hall in the fifth round, which got some folks excited. His tenure with the Vikings won’t go down in the history books.
Hall, now 27, has started a new chapter of his football career, as he is headed to the UFL, hoping to rekindle his magic.
The UFL has a strange (for NFL brains) player allocation system. The league explained, “Ahead of the 2026 UFL Draft, the league officially announced each team’s quarterback room and regional allocated players on Monday. Teams selected between two and three quarterbacks, while also receiving three allocated players through the league’s allocation process.”

Hall’s next employer will be the Birmingham Stallions.
The UFL wrote, “The Stallions enter the 2026 season with a quarterback room featuring Matt Corral, Taylor Elgersma, and Jaren Hall. Corral returns for his third season with Birmingham, providing continuity at the position. Corral made two starts last season and will compete for the starting role in 2026. Elgersma and Hall both have zero prior years of spring football experience.”
The Stallions have three passers under contract, led by two ex-Vikings in Matt Corral and Jaren Hall. Canadian signal-caller Taylor Elgersma spent three months last offseason with the Green Bay Packers.
Hall and Corral met in the 2024 preseason when the Vikings needed another arm for the final preseason contest. Corral’s brief playing time was a disaster and the Vikings moved on, but they surprisingly also parted ways with Hall.
Let’s start a year earlier.
Hall was not expected to see the field in his rookie season, as the QB hierarchy was clearly led by Kirk Cousins, followed by veteran backup Nick Mullens. In the preseason, Mullens outplayed a shaky Hall. When Cousins suffered an injury, backup Mullens was ironically on IR with a back injury and head coach Kevin O’Connell had to turn to Hall during the Green Bay game.
He then started the game in Atlanta but suffered a concussion two drives into his first extensive NFL action. Joshua Dobbs was subbed in and the whole Passtronaut story took off.

The Vikings then rotated through Dobbs and Mullens until Week 17. Ahead of a must-win game, the Vikings decided to put Hall back in the lineup as turnovers had been a massive problem for both Dobbs and Mullens.
Hall was clearly overwhelmed by Green Bay’s defense and he was benched for Mullens at halftime. After the 2024 preseason, despite J.J. McCarthy suffering his season-ending injury, the Vikings moved on and replaced Hall with veteran Brett Rypien.
Hall then headed to Seattle, where he didn’t see the field behind starter Geno Smith and Drew Lock. After the 2025 Draft, the Seahawks released Hall, replacing him with rookie Jalen Milroe as the developmental QB3.
Since then, Hall has had a few tryouts but has not been signed by an NFL team in the last nine months. His career stats show 13 of 20 passes completed for 168 yards, zero touchdowns and one pick.
He’ll now hope to do what Jalen Redmond did. Minnesota’s breakout defender spent some time in the UFL, showed his talent, and was scooped up by the Vikings. His first task will be to win the starting job over Elgersma and Corral.
