Vikings and JJ McCarthy are On Time Arrivals for OTAs

Vikings Territory Breakdown Podcast

NFL organized team activities (yes, that’s what OTA stands for—not offseason training actions—which they are—or over-technical assessments—which may happen–or overtly tubular algorithms—which won’t, since we don’t think they are a thing) began this week. The Vikings players assembled at TCO Performance to reacquaint with each other and get to know the new faces while trying to orient to the Purple way of life.

One player who may be doing all of that is second-year quarterback JJ McCarthy. He is no longer a rookie even though he has yet to play a down of meaningful football for the Vikings due to his knee injury in the first preseason game last year. But he is healed and ready to go for OTAs and whatever is coming his way—whether that is reuniting with teammates he watched play last season, meeting rookies he may be playing with this season or just trying to restart his NFL career in a Vikings uniform.

All (media) eyes will likely be on him. What is the QB rotation? How much will he be given right away? Does he look good? Does he look healthy? Will he be the guy we hope he will be in this big season for the Purple? Can he handle that tough Vikings schedule and all the prime time lights? Not all those questions will be answered this week, but that won’t stop the fellas at Vikings Territory Breakdown podcast—Joe Oberle, senior writer at vikingsterritory.com and purplePTSD.com and Mark Craig, NFL and Vikings writer for the Star Tribune and startribune.com—from trying anyway. Tune into the podcast and check it out. Skol!
