The NFL Schedule is Here! Well, Almost

Vikings Territory Breakdown

The 2025 NFL Schedule Release is next week. The NFL sent an email explaining that the schedule release is “almost here!” Not that it was released, but that it is almost released. (It’s almost like the email saying the Draft was almost here.) You can register and “be the first to know when the 2025-26 schedule drops.” Well, this NFL observer is all atwitter. (Because I suspect that’s where I can really be the first to see it all—on Twitter.)

Okay, end of the old man rant. Now that we have gotten that off our collective chests, let’s take a look at who the Vikings will play this season (as the schedule release is almost here). The Vikings are in for a tougher schedule in 2025 (no matter when and where they play their opponents). The NFC North has improved this offseason, so the Purple might not go 4-2 like they did last season in the North.

In addition, they play the AFC North and the LA Chargers versus the AFC South and the NY Jets last season (that 2024 schedule contributed mightily to their 14-3 record.) They also must face the NFC East (where the reigning Super Bowl champ resides), plus the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks (which could be a nice revenge game for Sam’s, Darnold and/or Howell).

Regardless, it will be worth talking about. As will be a preview of Vikings minicamp, which opens this week. Who should we be watching for to? What UFDAs might catch fire? Will we see rookie, uh, we mean, second-year QB J.J. McCarthy?

Inquiring minds want to know. So, the fellas at Vikings Territory Breakdown podcast—Joe Oberle, senior writer at vikingsterritory.com and purplePTSD.com and Mark Craig, NFL and Vikings writer for the Star Tribune and startribune.com—are here with the lowdown. Tune in and check it out. Skol!
