Comings and Goings as Vikings Begin Mandatory Minicamp
Vikings Territory Breakdown
It all begins in earnest. The Vikings mandatory minicamp commenced at TCO Performance Center this week, and the news is already spilling out regarding who is there and who is there but not practicing. Thus far, the Vikings have good numbers in attendance, including left tackle Christian Darrisaw (who injured his knee last season) taking part in individual drills. Certainly, TE Josh Oliver is there, as he inked a contract extension and becomes an important cog in the development of the Purple’s young quarterback.
Josh Metellus is at camp, but only partially, according to ESPN’s Kevin Siefert. He is in camp to build some chemistry with his teammates, but is sitting out seven-on-seven drills. He is not exactly holding in or holding out—let’s call it holding on until he gets a new contract (which has apparently been discussed).
And we will discuss it. We, being the fellas at Vikings Territory Breakdown podcast—Joe Oberle, senior writer at vikingsterritory.com and purplePTSD.com and Mark Craig, NFL and Vikings writer for the Star Tribune and startribune.com. We will also discuss one of the goings—in this case the passing of legendary Vikings defensive end Jim Marshall. He was a mainstay for the Purple People Eaters defensive line (setting the iron-man record for non-quarterbacks by never missing a game) and a favorite of his former coach, the late, great Bud Grant. Here’s hoping they are together again in Valhalla. Skol!

Christian Darrisaw … Already?!
