Free Agency Leader Vikings Are Not Afraid to Trade
Vikings Territory Breakdown
The Free Agency ride continues for Vikings GM Kwesi Adolfo-Mensah and the Purple. After a huge opening salvo in FA, the Vikings were on the move again last weekend. Kwesi had a busy first week of FA, when he made some big signings to the offensive and defensive lines, and finished up the week by making two big trades to help the Purple.
The Vikings traded a sixth-round pick in 2026 for 49ers RB Jordan Mason (plus the team swapped picks (No. 187 for MN and 160 for SF). Mason, who filled in well for the injured Niners’ starters, led the team in rushing last season. While not the pass catcher that Aaron Jones is, he adds great depth at running back and could split time—perhaps becoming the big bruiser they need.
The Vikings also traded right guard Ed Ingram to the Houston Texans for a sixth-round pick in 2026. While not wholly unexpected to let Ingram go, picking up a draft pick (for a former pick No. 54) was a nice win for the Kwesi. The question is, do the Vikings have enough picks this season (four) for Kwesi to hold onto that top one? They are reportedly trying to move center Garrett Bradbury.
There is more FA news (re-signing Viking LB Eric Wilson, acquiring backup OT Justin Skule and some other visits this week), and the fellas at Vikings Territory Breakdown podcast—Joe Oberle, senior writer at vikingsterritory.com and purplePTSD.com and Mark Craig, NFL and Vikings writer for the Star Tribune and startribune.com—are tracking it all.
