The weather might be turning cold, but the picks were red hot in Week 5.

After a very tough start to the season, we got back on track with a 10-4 record against the spread. Here’s to hoping we can keep the good times rolling in Week 6. Before we get into the Week 6 NFL picks, here is a look back at how we fared in Week 5.

  • 49ers +6.5 (W)
  • Vikings -3.5 (W)
  • Colts -6.5 (W)
  • Giants +1.5 (L)
  • Cowboys -2.5 (W)
  • Broncos +3.5 (W)
  • Panthers +1.5 (W)
  • Texans -1.5 (W)
  • Cardinals -7.5 (L)
  • Buccaneers +3.5 (W)
  • Lions -10.5 (W)
  • Chargers -2.5 (L)
  • Patriots +7.5 (W)
  • Chiefs -3.5 (L)

Season Record: 37-41

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants

  • Spread: Eagles -7.5
  • O/U: 39.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Eagles -7.5

The Jaxson Dart experience took a turn for the worst in Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints, and now they have to play on a short week against a Philadelphia Eagles team that has to be mad after their own loss to the Denver Broncos. Saquon Barkley should get the ball a lot against his former team, and he will carry the Eagles to a big win.

Denver Broncos vs. New York Jets

  • Spread: Broncos -6.5
  • O/U: 43.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Jets +6.5

The overseas games have been very close this season with some sloppy offensive play from all teams involved. That probably stays the same this time around. Broncos win, but it will be a close game.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Indianapolis Colts

  • Spread: Colts -7.5
  • O/U: 46.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Colts -7.5

That loss to the Titans might send the Cardinals spiraling. Meanwhile, the Colts have consistently been one of the best offenses in the league on a week-to-week basis, so they get a big win at home.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Miami Dolphins

  • Spread: Chargers -3.5
  • O/U: 42.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Chargers -3.5

The past few weeks have been ugly for the Chargers, and their offensive line injuries may have taken them out of list of contenders. Still, this team is better than the Dolphins who just had another collapse against the Carolina Panthers. LA gets the job done.

New England Patriots vs. New Orleans Saints

  • Spread: Patriots -3.5
  • O/U: 45.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Patriots -3.5

The Patriots are rolling after a road win against the Buffalo Bills last weekend, and of course, the Saints finally got their first win of the season last weekend against the New York Giants. Drake Maye will find a way to get the better of this New Orleans defense, and the Patriots have gotten a huge boost out of Christian Gonzalez lately. New England wins.

Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Spread: Steelers -6.5
  • O/U: 38.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Steelers -6.5

The Steelers’ defensive front has to be loving the idea of going against this Cleveland Browns offensive line and rookie QB Dillon Gabriel, especially coming off a bye week combined with Cleveland’s travels to London and back in the past week. T.J. Watt will grab a couple sacks as Pittsburgh cruises to a win.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Carolina Panthers

  • Spread: Cowboys -3.5
  • O/U: 49.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Panthers +3.5

The Cowboys have an explosive offense, but their defense has proven to be very vulnerable this season, allowing over 30 points per game. The Panthers have been a bit of a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde team through five weeks, but their offense will find a way to keep this one close, especially if their backfield also includes Chuba Hubbard this week.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Spread: Jaguars -1.5
  • O/U: 47.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Seahawks +1.5

This has all the makings of a fun game between two teams who are trying to prove they belong among the contenders of their respective conferences. Jacksonville is coming off a short week after playing a tough Monday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs, so Seattle’s defense will shine through to lead the Seahawks to a win.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Baltimore Ravens

  • Spread: Rams -7.5
  • O/U: 45.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Rams -7.5

Lamar Jackson was not back on the practice field Wednesday, so we’re operating under the assumption that he won’t be available to Baltimore again this weekend. The Ravens need him if they have any chance of turning their season around, and their defense will have no answers for the Rams.

Tennessee Titans vs. Las Vegas Raiders

  • Spread: Raiders -4.5
  • O/U: 41.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Raiders -4.5

Neither one of these teams have inspired too much confidence through the first five weeks, but Las Vegas has too talented of a roster to continue these losing ways. They get back on track against the Titans.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Green Bay Packers

  • Spread: Packers -14.5
  • O/U: 44.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Packers -14.5

It’s now the Joe Flacco show in Cincinnati after they decided to trade for the veteran QB. Unfortunately, that won’t fix this team’s issues on the offensive line, so the Packers will win big at home coming off their bye week.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Spread: Buccaneers -2.5
  • O/U: 47.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Buccaneers -2.5

Mac Jones looked like he had been through a war after San Francisco’s win over the Rams last Thursday, and Brock Purdy doesn’t seem to be ready to go this weekend. Perhaps a mini-bye week will help San Francisco get healthy, but I’m trusting Baker Mayfield to get the job done and continue his case for MVP.

Detroit Lions vs. Kansas City Chiefs

  • Spread: Chiefs -2.5
  • O/U: 52.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Lions +2.5

I’m at an all-time low in confidence in the Kansas City Chiefs after seeing what they put on the field on Monday night. That was a game that, in previous years, the Chiefs find a way to win every single time, but something just isn’t right with the AFC champs. Detroit will take advantage and get a win on the road.

Buffalo Bills vs. Atlanta Falcons

  • Spread: Bills -4.5
  • O/U: 50.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Bills -4.5

Last week, the Bills were riding high at 4-0 and at the top of the AFC. Now, they are in the middle of a battle for their own division for the first time in years. They will be extra motivated to come out on Monday night and put together a win against the Falcons.

Chicago Bears vs. Washington Commanders

  • Spread: Commanders -4.5
  • O/U: 49.5 points

Frey’s Pick: Commanders -4.5

Things are starting to turn around for both of these clubs, but I don’t think the bye week came at the right time for the Bears. The Commanders put together an impressive defensive performance against the Chargers last weekend, and once again, Jayden Daniels will find a way to beat the Bears.
