Ex-Vikings Speedster Auditions for Falcons

Jalen Reagor is attempting to prolong his NFL journey, trying out for the Atlanta Falcons‘ roster this week. The former Minnesota Vikings wideout has not found staying power in the pros, hoping the Falcons will provide a chance of scenery.
A former Vikings wide receiver known for his speed is getting another shot, this time with the Falcons, as he looks to reignite his NFL career.
Reagor last worked for the Los Angeles Chargers, and he could be a Falcon by the end of the week.

Reagor would be looking at a practice squad gig if the audition goes well.

Reagor Works Out for Falcons
Seeking to bolster the midseason WR room, Atlanta gave Reagor a quick look this week..
FalconsWire‘s Matt Urben wrote Tuesday, “The Atlanta Falcons signed defensive lineman Ben Stille to the practice squad and released two other players, the team announced on Tuesday. However, the Falcons still have another practice squad spot available and tried out four other players as well.”
“Quarterback Tanner Mordecai, along with wide receivers K.J. Hamler, Julian Hicks and Jalen Reagor each worked out for Atlanta on Tuesday afternoon, according to the NFL’s transaction wire. Reagor, a former first-round pick out of TCU, spent his first two NFL seasons (2020-2021) with the Philadelphia Eagles before being traded to the Minnesota Vikings in 2022. While he’s never lived up to his first-round status, Reagor is an experienced veteran with 86 career receptions for 1,037 yards and four touchdowns.”
Falcons fans should know in the next couple of days if Reagor will get the nod.
The Falcons’ WR Corps
Without Reagor yet in the mix, here’s a peek at the Falcons’ wide receiving options for Michael Penix Jr. on Sundays:
- Drake London
- Darnell Mooney
- Davis Sills V
- Casey Washington
- Khadarel Hodge
- Jamal Agnew
- Chris Blair (Practice Squad)
- Deven Thompkins (Practice Squad)
- Nick Nash (Practice Squad)
- Dylan Drummond (Practice Squad)
Head coach Raheem Morris and friends certainly don’t have a quantity problem at WR. We shall see if there’s a spot for Reagor.
Reagor’s NFL Resume
Reagor latched on with the Chargers in September 2024, sticking around for the full season. He suited up in eight games, logging seven catches for 100 yards — a small but steady role in an offense stacked with speed. He handled punt returns back in Minnesota and kick duties for New England in 2023, but those opportunities mostly dried up in L.A.

Of course, the name Jalen Reagor still triggers a collective smirk across the NFL. He’s the guy Philadelphia drafted one pick before Justin Jefferson in 2020 — a moment that instantly went down in draft history and still follows him everywhere he goes.
Here’s his full resume through six seasons:
- Philadelphia Eagles (2020–2021)
- Minnesota Vikings (2022)
- New England Patriots (2023–2024)
- Los Angeles Chargers (2024–2025)
Brief Stint with Vikings
In August 2022, general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah swung a deal with Philadelphia, shipping off a 2023 seventh-rounder and a 2024 conditional fifth to take a swing on Reagor — the hope being that a change of locale might finally unlock the former first-rounder’s potential.
That upside never showed. Reagor’s time in Minnesota will mostly be remembered for two brutal route miscues against the Colts that led directly to interceptions. In total, he posted just eight catches for 104 yards and one touchdown as a Viking.
Among the 31 NFL players who returned 15 or more punts in 2022, Reagor ranked dead last — 31st — with a 6.2-yard average. It wasn’t good enough, and by the summer of 2023, his spot on the 53-man roster was already shaky.

The Vikings waived him on August 30, 2023, and a day later, he resurfaced on New England’s practice squad. The cut was tough to predict — Reagor had flashed during training camp and preseason, looking more confident and reliable than before — but Minnesota ultimately opted for other depth.
To soften the blow of the original trade, Adofo-Mensah later flipped a move during the 2023 NFL Draft that landed a 2024 fifth-round pick from Kansas City, essentially erasing the cost of the Reagor experiment when all was said and done.
The Falcons host the Carolina Panthers this Sunday and are expected to win by three or four points.
Reagor will turn 27 in January,
