Rams Add Ex-Vikings TE to Roster

Nick Muse, formerly of the Minnesota Vikings, has experienced a topsy-turvy NFL ride over the last year, continuing his jaunt around the league with a new contract in Los Angeles.
The Rams have signed a former Vikings tight end, adding veteran depth and familiarity to their offensive roster late in the season.
The tight end joined Sean McVay’s team this week, and Muse will hope for some rare staying power in Tinseltown.
Former Vikings TE Nick Muse to Rams
The system will seem stylistically similar between Minnesota and Los Angeles.

Rams Sign Muse
It’s Los Angeles for Muse this go-round. USA Today‘s Mike Masala noted Tuesday, “The Rams have decided that they want to add another player to the group, as they’ve reportedly signed tight end Nick Muse to their practice squad, filling the open spot left when they signed long snapper Jake McQuaide to the active roster.”
“Muse, 26, played collegiately William & Mary at 2017-18 and South Carolina from 2019-21 before the Minnesota Vikings took him in the seventh round (No. 227 overall) in the 2022 NFL draft. He appeared in 16 games for Minnesota, catching one pass for [22] yards.”
Muse hasn’t taken a regular season snap since 2024 in Minnesota, and he’ll hope to change that circumstance with McVay and friends.
The Rams’ New TE Room
Muse probably won’t find his way to the regular season roster anytime soon, because Los Angeles’ TE room is full and the Rams strangely have very few injuries.
Nevertheless, here’s the tight end setup for the Rams entering Week 11:
- Tyler Higbee
- Colby Parkinson
- Davis Allen
- Terrance Ferguson
- Mark Redman (Practice Squad)
- Nick Muse (Practice Squad)
Things would have to get quite weird for Muse to get a gameday tap on the shoulder.
Muse’s NFL Resume
It’s been a blur of logos and locker rooms for Muse — four teams in ten months, a nomadic stretch that sums up life on the NFL’s margins. The Eagles plucked him off Minnesota’s practice squad on January 22, 2025. He never saw the field in Philadelphia, but still walked away with a Super Bowl ring for his troubles. A few weeks later, he inked a futures deal that lasted about as long as a haircut. By August’s roster cuts, he was back on the street looking for a new gig.
About six weeks later, Arizona came calling. Muse joined the Cardinals on October 8th, only to find himself back in free agency before the month was out. Next stop: Los Angeles.

That makes it Vikings → Eagles → Cardinals → Rams in under a year — a pinball sequence for the South Carolina product who entered the league in 2022. Muse has logged 16 career games, catching one pass for 22 yards, but he’s fought his way onto more rosters than most players with those stats ever do.
At South Carolina, he tallied 805 receiving yards over 31 games from 2019 to 2021. Minnesota gave him his first real taste of opportunity, elevating him to the gameday roster three times late in 2024. They also released him three times. That’s the grind — one play away from sticking, one transaction away from packing again.
Muse in Minnesota
Muse played 19 offensive snaps in 16 games for the Vikings, along with 184 special teams snaps. He saw the most action as a rookie in 2022, appearing in 10 games and later bouncing around from the practice squad to the active roster.
All told, he has the one aforementioned reception in his career for 22 yards, which occurred in 2023.

Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah initially found Muse in Round 7 of the now-infamous 2022 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-5, 252-pounder is from North Carolina. His brother, Tanner Muse, a linebacker, has bounced around the NFL since the start of 2020, most recently with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024.
Rams-Themed Media on Muse
Turf Show Times‘ Kenneth Arthur noted on the Muse addition, “The Rams signed tight end Nick Muse to the practice squad on Tuesday, giving Sean McVay yet another option at the position moving forward. Muse may only be on the practice squad right now but his addition to the roster in any capacity is interesting given that L.A. already has four notable tight ends on the 53-man roster and rookie Mark Redman on the practice squad.”
“The 27-year-old Muse has some experience with a McVay offense as he has spent his entire career with the Minnesota Vikings and Kevin O’Connell. The Rams could have filled any positional need with the open spot on their practice squad and they chose as tight end. Is that just because they’re fans of Muse specifically or does McVay want assurance that if one of his four options goes down that he will still have four options moving forward?”
Muse is known for his big and jovial personality.
“After all, the Rams used 13 personnel at an absurdly high rate in Week 10, so this news may not be the last time we hear about Muse,” Arthur concluded.
The Rams host the Seahawks on Sunday to determine midseason control of the NFC West.
