Vikings Offensive Lineman Gets Bad Injury News

The Minnesota Vikings have been battling through a couple injuries throughout the early portions of training camp.
Star receiver Justin Jefferson has been sidelined by a hamstring injury for all but a couple practices, and Minnesota’s offensive line has multiple players fighting to get back onto the field after injuries suffered last season like Christian Darrisaw and Will Fries.
Now, the Vikings have suffered their most serious blow yet to one of their depth offensive linemen.
Vikings Offensive Lineman Suffers Torn Bicep

Offensive tackle Matt Nelson suffered a torn bicep at Monday night’s practice, according to a report from Darren Wolfson of KSTP.
“Unfortunate news for #Vikings OL Matt Nelson after he just signed last week: Told he suffered a biceps tear last night,” Wolfson wrote in a post on X.
Nelson, 29, spent four years with the Detroit Lions from 2019-2023 largely as a depth piece in a very talented offensive line room. He signed with Detroit as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa.
The most playing time Nelson received came in 2021 when he made 11 starts for Detroit as a right tackle. In all, he played 43 games with the Lions, making 14 starts.

Nelson signed with the New York Giants prior to the 2024 season, but he was released at the end of training camp and never caught on with a new team.
He was then picked up by the Vikings just last week to provide some training camp depth at the offensive tackle position.

Nelson likely would have had an uphill battle to make the roster in Minnesota as he likely would be fighting for a fringe third-string spot behind names like Justin Skule, Logan Brown, and Walter Rouse.
Unfortunately, it looks like Nelson’s 2025 season may be coming to an end before it can even truly begin.
