In any given week, about a half dozen items regarding the Minnesota Vikings are simply not true or are overblown in the digital stratosphere.

These are the nopedy nopes for the Vikings this week. Last week’s are available here.

The Nopedy Nope: Aaron Rodgers to the Vikings rumors remain alive because one single human can’t drop it.

The Athletic‘s Dianna Russini has led the charge to keep Aaron Rodgers rumors involving Minnesota alive and well.

“I do think there’s a world — and I know Vikings fans don’t want to see it. Whether it’s their hate for Aaron Rodgers. Whether it’s they feel J.J.’s not getting a fair shake,” she said on The Scoop City podcast this week.

“Whatever the reason is for why some Vikings fans don’t want to see Aaron Rodgers, they have to come to grips — there is a world that exists, this year, where Aaron Rodgers hangs out and the Minnesota Vikings pick up the phone and they make the call. It could happen.”

Everyone else has essentially ruled out Rodgers to Minnesota because the Vikings’ leadership has stated that J.J. McCarthy is their man.

Russini added, “J.J. McCarthy has not been told he is the starter. He has not been told he is the No. 1 guy. Even before Daniel Jones and Sam Darnold walked away, or at least went to other teams, it was always discussed that it would be a competition this summer.”

“They’re not telling him anything. That is also telling to me. They don’t know; how could they know? He’s coming off injury. They need to see it.”

We get it: Minnesota could need Rodgers if McCarthy got hurt, but that goes without mentioning this late in the offseason.

Verdict = Nopedy Nope.

The Nopedy Nope: Minnesota’s ownership is “waiting to see one more draft” from Kwesi Adofo-Mensah before it finalizes an extension.

At the NFL league meetings this week, Vikings reporters asked Mark Wilf if an extension for general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is an outcome he prefers.

Wilf replied, “Yes, it is.”

Meanwhile, Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling tweeted this week, “One note on Vikings general manager GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s contract: While coach contracts typically expire after the season, front office deals run through the NFL draft. So Adofo-Mensah’s deal doesn’t actually expire until after the 2026 draft. Still optimism about it getting done this offseason.”

So, the current contract runs through the 2026 NFL Draft.

A few fans have claimed the ownership needs to see a “winner take all” draft from Adofo-Mensah in a few weeks, but that simply isn’t true. He’ll be extended before too long.

Verdict = Nopedy Nope.

The Nopedy Nope: Ben Roethlisberger thinks Aaron Rodgers secretly wants to play for the Vikings, and that’s holding up his deal with the Steelers.

Roethlisberger believes two things:

a) Aaron Rodgers will eventually end up with the Steelers.
b) Aaron Rodgers secretly wants to play for the Vikings.

“I think Aaron secretly is still holding out for Minnesota, which is why he hasn’t signed with the Steelers. Why else would you go throw with DK and be working out and put it out, blast it to everybody that I’m throwing to these guys, but you won’t sign?” Roethlisberger said during his show a few days ago.

“I just think he thinks that Minnesota is a more complete, closer team to win a Super Bowl. And it might not be wrong.”

Minnesota’s leadership explained in the last couple of weeks that it explored Rodgers as a quarterback option in 2025 but ultimately decided against the idea.

Roethlisberger added about Rodgers’ outlook: “To be honest with you, not really a lot of options out there for you.”

Rodgers may want Minnesota as his next employer, but it doesn’t have room for him this offseason.

Verdict = Nopedy Nope.
