Minnesota Vikings’ training camp is four weeks away, and the first preseason game is two weeks after that.

Sunday’s Vikings rumors include a possible return to the NFL for a former Vikings QB, Ryan Tannehill fodder, and a Jalen Ramsey mention.

But first, VikingsTerritory highlights some of the key rumors for the week, a two-part series every weekend, comprised of purple and gold theories from the last several days.

You can read yesterday’s rumors here.

Rumor: Jordan Ta’amu will return to the NFL after winning the UFL Championship MVP award.

Jordan Ta’amu and the DC Defenders won the UFL Championship over the Michigan Panthers two weeks ago. He stopped by the Vikings for a week in 2023. His performance in the championship will go down as one of the best ever in that offshoot league.

Now, Ta’amu could parlay UFL glory into an NFL comeback.

BR’s Brent Sobleski noted this week, “Jordan Ta’amu has been Mr. Spring Football. He’s played well enough between multiple leagues to get cups of coffee with the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Washington Commanders, Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings after being an undrafted signee by the Houston Texans.”

“This year is no different. While Perkins emerged as the UFL’s top player during the season, Ta’amu saved his best for last in the league’s championship game. The 27-year-old quarterback shredded the Michigan Panthers defense for 390 yards and four touchdown passes on his way to being named the UFL Championship Most Valuable Player. Ta’amu, 27, pulled a Michael Jordan and took that personally.”

It’s probably a safe bet to assume Ta’amu will be on an NFL team’s practice squad this September if not on an active roster as a QB3.

“As a result, he raised the trophy at the end of the season. At his best, Ta’amu can be deadly accurate when operating on time and in rhythm. He doesn’t have the biggest arm, but he throws with good anticipation and ball placement,” Sobleski continued.

“He’s more than proved himself to be an able backup somewhere in the NFL.”

The man deserves another shot at the big leagues.

Latest Vikings Rumors from June 23rd to June 28th

The purple rumor mill includes items involving Jordan Ta’amu, Ryan Tannehill, and Jalen Ramsey this week.

Rumor: Ryan Tannehill could be an option for the Vikings at QB2 or QB3 later this summer.

Tannehill is no stranger to the Vikings rumor mill, connected to the purple team last year when Sam Darnold battled a few anemic games.

Alec Lewis name-dropped Tannehill for Minnesota in 2025 this week. He wrote, “There aren’t an abundance of alternatives. If the Vikings soured on Howell, they could try to sway longtime starter Ryan Tannehill. Plucking Kirk Cousins from the Falcons is another break-glass-in-case-of-emergency possibility. Daniel Jones would’ve occupied this spot if the Vikings had their way from the outset, so as long as Howell comes close to that level, they may be satisfied.”

Lewis also opined on the backup quarterback section of the roster overall: “Here’s what this question is really asking: How much faith do you have in Sam Howell? Head coach Kevin O’Connell and the coaching staff love Brett Rypien’s input in the room. Undrafted signee Max Brosmer is similarly intelligent.”

“Neither has the athletic talent or playing experience of Howell, who threw for nearly 4,000 yards in 17 starts in 2023. Spring practice only reveals so much, but Howell’s arm talent is inarguable. The questions lay in his field vision, decision-making and accuracy. O’Connell might believe that he and the Vikings’ offense could mitigate any potential risks those qualities could cause.”

Sam Howell would probably have to look pretty dreadful at training camp or in the preseason to prompt another quarterback signing.

“In that way, Howell might not be crazily dissimilar from Sam Darnold. Whether that presents a high enough floor or not — for a team as committed to winning in 2025 as Minnesota is — warrants contemplation,” Lewis remarked.

The Vikings probably don’t need Tannehill with Howell, Rypien, and Brosmer on the roster after J.J. McCarthy.

Rumor: The Vikings still make sense for a Jalen Ramsey trade.

Pro Football Network‘s Hayden Victoria analyzed trade destinations this week for Jalen Ramsey, and lo and behold, the Vikings made the cut.

“As the month of June nears its end, no action has yet taken place. With training camp approaching and Ramsey openly favoring a return to the West Coast, particularly Los Angeles, the Dolphins are expected to accelerate trade talks in the coming weeks,” Victoria pointed out.

“Teams mentioned in speculation but less likely: Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons. While these teams have needs at cornerback and could benefit from Ramsey’s presence, current reporting suggests Ramsey is focused on West Coast contenders, specifically the Rams and Chargers.”

The Kevin O’Connell link to Ramsey from the 2021 Rams will keep this rumor alive until the Ramsey trade occurs.

Victoria added, “There is no credible indication that Dallas, Minnesota, Kansas City, or Atlanta are among his preferred or likely destinations at this time. Ramsey is signed through 2028 and is owed $25.1 million in 2025, though any team acquiring him would be responsible for about $21 million this season after Miami’s signing bonus payment.”

“The Dolphins were widely expected to execute a trade after June 1 to minimize their cap hit, with several teams reportedly inquiring about the star cornerback.”

Ramsey will turn 31 in October.
