The Minnesota Vikings traveled to Tennessee to take on the Titans in their preseason finale on Friday night.

After a 23-13 loss, players are now forced to wait until roster cutdown day on Tuesday to see which players will make the final 53-man rosters. Here are three players who did not help their cases on Friday night for those final roster spots.

P Oscar Chapman

The punting battle in Minnesota likely is over. Oscar Chapman made it close to the end, but ultimately, Ryan Wright was good enough on Friday night, and the undrafted rookie made too many mistakes.

Chapman didn’t get a chance to punt once in the final preseason game, but he was the holder on Will Reichard’s missed 55-yard field goal. The ball was bobbled while setting it down, and a spotlight was further cast on the incident after Reichard made a 58-yard attempt with Ryan Wright as the holder.

Ultimately, Chapman’s story likely isn’t over as the Vikings will try to stash him on their practice squad, but his chances of making the 53-man roster have likely ended.

RB Ty Chandler

Running back Ty Chandler did not get a chance to play in the preseason finale, which likely marks an unceremonious end to his tenure with the Minnesota Vikings.

Chandler simply was not impressive enough during this training camp and preseason, totaling eight carries for 17 yards in his two preseason appearances after a disappointing 2024 campaign. On the other hand, Zavier Scott has been the explosive, athletic, pass-catching presence that many hoped Chandler would grow into.

Expect Scott to land the RB3 role for the Vikings after another day in which he showed how explosive he can be with a 23-yard carry.

WR Silas Bolden

Silas Bolden might be on the outside looking in for the Vikings’ punt returner job after this week. He did not get a chance to return a punt on Friday, instead returning two kicks for a total of 57 yards. It was a decent showing, but it doesn’t match the explosiveness that Myles Price has had returning for the Vikings.

Price came into preseason Week 3 with four punt returns over the first two matchups, averaging just over seven yards per return, including a 15-yard return during the preseason opener against the Houston Texans.

Price’s official stat sheet will say he only had one punt return for three yards on Friday night, but he had an explosive 30-yard return called back due to a holding call on Dwight McGlothern. As a result, Price might be winning the punt return job, leaving Bolden hoping for a practice squad spot.
