What if Vikings Got Crazy at Wide Receiver?

The Minnesota Vikings employ the best wide receiver in the NFL. Justin Jefferson may not lead the league in yardage yearly, but he is arguably the most impressive athlete to play the position in some time. He has an incredible running mate in Jordan Addison. What if Kevin O’Connell got crazy with his third option?

Next season, it should be expected that Jalen Nailor will again assume WR3 responsibilities. He took over for K.J. Osborn this year and performed admirably. There were some drops and untimely events, but for the most part, he handled the load.

There was reason to hope Adam Thielen may come back during the middle of the season. There is reason to hope Cooper Kupp could be a target this offseason. What if the Minnesota Vikings got really crazy and just brought in Tyreek Hill?

It’s certainly plausible that Hill could be done with the Miami Dolphins. He isn’t used to losing, and that franchise isn’t used to winning. There was a time when some wondered if he was better than Jefferson. That was never true, but the trio would create the greatest pairing in history without question.

Minnesota must weigh what it would cost to acquire Hill. That is step one of the process. Then, there is just how his personality and expectations would fit within the team. Are the Vikings going to push Addison down the depth chart? Would Hill welcome the slot position? Those are questions needing answers.

Kevin O’Connell already employs one of the NFL’s best groups of skill-position players. Adding someone like Hill to the collection would definitely take things to another level. Minnesota needs to address their running game this offseason, but adding a top-tier pass catcher wouldn’t be something to shy away from either.

No matter who is under center for the Vikings, failing with that collection of pass catchers at your disposal would be virtually unfathomable.
