For the Vikings Purposes, Are These the Real Eagles?

The Minnesota Vikings are on a bye this week and get to heal while watching from the comforts of their home. For those with Amazon Prime subscriptions who have turned on the Thursday night contest, they got to see their Week 7 foe fall against the New York Giants. The defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles looked bad, and they went down for the second-straight week.

The Philadelphia Eagles are next up for the Minnesota Vikings, but they all of a sudden look like a much more beatable opponent.

Despite the Minnesota Vikings hosting the Eagles, it always looked like they would be up against a formidable opponent on Sunday, October 19. After getting through the first portion of their schedule with a 3-2 record, they need to win some of the games during their upcoming gauntlet, and the Philadelphia contest now looks like it may be more in reach.

The Vikings’ Next Opponent, the Eagles, Suddenly Seems Pedestrian

Minnesota is a 2.5-point underdog despite having home-field advantage, and it will take another strong week of coaching from Kevin O’Connell for the team to emerge victorious.ย

Currently, it is uncertain who will be under center. On one hand, it would be nice to see young signal caller J.J. McCarthy return to action. On the other, no player on the Minnesota Vikings would like to beat the Philadelphia Eagles more than Carson Wentz.

It’s a good thing that the Vikings have additional time to prepare for their opening gauntlet of a schedule. They’ll need to account for the joke that has become the ‘tush push,’ and Jalen Hurts will move around the field. Saquon Barkley remains a dynamic talent, and the offensive weapons at Nick Sirianni’s disposal are plentiful.

You’d be hard-pressed to convince anyone that Minnesota will pull off the victory, even after the way the Eagles have looked in recent weeks. Still, the door now looks more open than it had when the schedule was released, and Philadelphia looks more beatable than at any point in recent seasons.

Philadelphia gets some additional time to prepare after playing on Thursday night, but there’s no spot Minnesota would rather be in coming up against such a difficult opponent. A big win could springboard them through the tough stretch and define their season going forward.
