Vikings Territory Breakdown
Free agency continues, but it has slowed in its third week . . . with news of signings dribbling like droplets of sap out of Sugar Maple trees in warming temps. There are names and faces remaining, but what’s still hanging on the FA trees wouldn’t cover your pancakes on Sunday morning. The Minnesota Vikings made such a big splash early they are already preparing their buckets of free agent (sap) and turning (boiling) it into sweet maple syrup designed to bring a smile to the face of the hungriest of Vikings fans.
Okay, that’s enough of the tortured maple metaphor. The Vikings still have work to do in free agency—and chief of among those duties is the signing of a quality backup quarterback. Since former New York Jet and former Green Bay Packer (let’s not forget his origin story) Aaron Rodgers has been “given the Heisman” by Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell, the Purple still need someone behind J.J. McCarthy. The list of available free agent QBs is growing shorter, but in KOC, the QB Whisperer, we trust.
The Vikings have other needs that they could address in free agency (or in the NFL Draft), but what are those needs and who is left to grab? The fellas at Vikings Territory Breakdown podcast—Joe Oberle, senior writer at vikingsterritory.com and purplePTSD.com and Mark Craig, NFL and Vikings writer for the Star Tribune and startribune.com—are on hand to dissect and discuss all that. In addition, they will take on some of the new rule change proposals proffered at the NFL Winter meetings. Some good news and some bad news there—so tune in and check it out. Skol!
