Vikings 53-Man Roster is Set—Bring on the G-Men
Vikings Territory Breakdown Podcast
The Vikings beat the Philadelphia Eagles in their final preseason game by a score of 26-3. And there’s little more that needs to be said about that. Quarterback Jaren Hall, who started the game, was injured late in his performance and it affects where he starts the 2024 season: on the IR, the practice squad or the 53-man roster. The Vikings put him on the 53-man roster.
Speaking of that roster, the Vikings completed their cutdowns on Tuesday to get to that magic number of 53, but their work is not done. That number is about as elastic as a rubber band as they try to bind together their final roster for the opening game in New Jersey against the new Giants on September 8th.
But there were plenty of interesting moves made by the Vikings to get to that number, chief among them, perhaps, was the release of third-year man and first-ever Kwesi Adolfo-Mensah draft pick Lewis Cine. The Vikings reportedly tried to trade Cine before the roster deadline on Tuesday, but no deal materialized (which seems like the loss of a potential 7th-round pick, but who knows).
Regardless, the Vikings roster is set for now (but expect more movement before the season starts), and the fellas at Vikings Territory Breakdown podcast (Joe Oberle, senior writer at vikingsterritory.com and purplePTSD.com and Mark Craig, NFL and Vikings writer for the Star Tribune and startribune.com) are on hand to discuss it. Tune in and check it out.
