The P/PTSD Perspective: Buckle Up on Cousins, Insiders on Hunter, & The Roster Cuts

PurplePTSD works in partnership with Vikings Territory, similarly doing their utmost to offer top-notch coverage of the Minnesota Vikings. As a result, we’re promoting five of their top articles of the past week in “The P/PTSD Perspective.” Take a peek at some of their best stuff.

The P/PTSD Perspective: March 16th, 2024

1) Buckle Up: The Kirk Cousins Contract is Getting Huge: In the end, the Atlanta Falcons decided to empty the ATM. It’s a bold move for a franchise that’s desperate for QB stability. The soon-to-be 36-year-old quarterback is working through an achy Achilles. But, crucially, he has been getting better and better as he ages. Does that continue in Georgia?

2) A Pile of NFL Insiders Arrived at the Same Hunter Conclusion: Seeing Danielle Hunter head elsewhere is the decision that stings the most. And, to be sure, the numbers were pretty low, all things considered. Expect Mr. Hunter to be a terror down in Texas as he helps Houston’s defense continue its excellence.

3) The Vikings Make a Smart Move by Keeping the Pass Catcher: The team needs depth at the tight end spot due to T.J. Hockenson’s injury recovery. Nobody is mistaking him for Travis Kelce, but Johnny Mundt is a good ball player. He is a valuable part of the special teams and is a sneaky athlete who can make some plays.

4) Veteran Defensive Lineman and Young LB Released by Vikings: The offseason can be exciting because it brings in new talent. Doing so, though, requires moving on from other players. Dean Lowry didn’t work out as a free agent addition, so the cut was easy to foresee. The linebacker decision was a touch more unforeseen.

5) A Once Promising Former Vikings WR Gets New Contract in Carolina: The Panthers are quickly becoming the team that scoops up former Vikings. Ihmir Smith-Marsette has some good speed so it makes sense that he’s been able to carve out a role for himself in Carolina. He’ll hope to play well enough to land some major money in the future.
