The dog days of summer are upon us, and for the Vikings that means idle time before their Training Camp starts and the real work begins for the 2024 season. Unfortunately, that is not always good news for the Vikings players, who have a history of not spending their idle time wisely. Which leads us to the troubling case of Vikings’ second-year wideout Jordan Addison, who was found asleep at the wheel (both literally and figuratively) this past weekend.
Addison was found asleep in his car near the airport in Los Angeles late Friday night, with his car blocking a lane of traffic and was arrested for DUI. No one was injured, thankfully, but this report is especially troublesome given that it is the second time in his young career that Addison has particularly has had an egregious violation since becoming a Minnesota Viking (he was clocked at driving 140 M.P.H in a 40 M.P.H. zone in 2023). This is Addison’s second strike so it’s safe to say some team and league discipline is heading in his direction.
This sobering news leads the latest Vikings Territory Breakdown podcast, as it comes on the heels of last week where the Vikings suffered the loss of rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson, who was tragically killed in a car accident. The offseason has suddenly taken a dark turn for the Vikings community.
On a brighter note, camp is just two weeks away, and the fellas at the VT Breakdown podcast (Joe Oberle, senior writer at vikingsterritory.com and purplePTSD.com and Mark Craig, NFL and Vikings writer for the Star Tribune and startribune.com) will be looking at more position groups in their training camp preview. Tune in for the good and bad of the Vikings offseason.
