Justin Jefferson’s Latest Spot Is an Eyebrow Raiser
There is no denying that Justin Jefferson is currently the best wide receiver across the entire National Football League. It’s not a shock that Minnesota Vikings great Cris Carter would think highly of him. It is a bit jarring to see just how highly it is at this moment, though.
Justin Jefferson’s Latest Spot Is an Eyebrow Raiser
Since Justin Jefferson entered the league, he has done nothing to stop raising the bar for his performance. He is an athletic freak with the ability to change the game at any moment. He has put up ridiculous numbers and has helped elevate the Vikings’ offense to heights that may have previously never been possible.
Hall of Famer Cris Carter has taken notice and recently called him the best wide receiver in Vikings history. That’s something of a shock considering Randy Moss exists. Carter listed himself second, with Moss third. The former Vikings great is arguably one of the best wide receivers of all time, and Moss is still considered something of the gold standard.
When looking at how receivers are judged today, there is a Moss-like lens to everything. Programs utilize the phrase “You got Mossed.” There are still bobbleheads and collectibles (like FOCO’s latest Sports Illustrated cover offering) being produced to denote the greatness of the former Marshall product. Each time he appears on television, Moss is present alongside highlights of his performance.
It would not be shocking to see a historical ranking of wide receivers put both Carter and Moss ahead of Jefferson. While the current standout is racking up statistics at a pace neither previously saw, their careers’ longevity and totality far surpass what Jefferson has done thus far.
With Carter being the one asked, it makes sense for him to view himself in a greater light. Moss being behind him, though, especially considering what he did throughout the rest of his career, is a bit unsettling. Of course, Carter could be evaluating just their time with the Vikings in his assessment, but Moss’ accolades with the Patriots wouldn’t come into play. Still, Jefferson being the best of the bunch is quite significant praise.
Regardless of how you want to rank the trio, the reality is that Jefferson is on a Hall of Fame trajectory at such a young age. That’s beyond impressive and certainly something to make note of. He knows how good he is, but hearing the praise of former greats can’t get old.
