Randy Moss Has Advice for Current Star WR
Former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver and Hall of Famer Randy Moss chatted at length with Kay Adams this week — and wasn’t shy.
Randy Moss Has Advice for Current Star WR
Among a quarterback endorsement for the Vikings, offensive advice for his former team, and thoughts on Joe Burrow possibly remaking his infamous touchdown celebration, Moss offered advice to superstar wideout Davante Adams: start chasing Super Bowl rings.
Adams plays for the Las Vegas Raiders, a couple of years removed from a trade by the Green Bay Packers. He may not win a chip in Las Vegas, but Moss urged the 31-year-old to pursue ring hardware as his foremost priority.
“I really do not see why he should not chase a ring. He’s made his money, he’s made enough money, I won’t say he’s made all of his money. He’s made enough money, so for him to chase a ring, I mean, I chased one,” Moss told Kay Adams about the other Adams in a lengthy sitdown.
Adams has gained increased national attention in the last week, appearing in Netflix’s hit docuseries Receiver. Along with Justin Jefferson, the heir apparent to Moss’ Vikings records, Adams is featured with Deebo Samuel, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and George Kittle in an intimate eight-episode portrayal of pass-catchers’ lives on and off the field.
Moss added, “My advice to him is just keep being yourself, man, and go get a ring.”
He also instructed Adams to “go back with your quarterback,” a nod to a possible midseason trade between the Raiders and New York Jets, where Adams’ former signal-caller Aaron Rodgers reigns.
Moss played for the Vikings from 1998 to 2005, almost single-handedly creating a generation of Vikings fans. He later joined a few other NFL clubs, making the most noise with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots from 2007 to 2010 before rejoining the Vikings for a memorable but ill-fated stint.
The Hall of Famer ranks second all-time in receiving touchdowns behind Jerry Rice. He’s also the NFL’s fourth-leading receiver in league history, trailing only Rice, Larry Fitzgerald, and Terrell Owens. The closest active touchdown suitor to Moss is free-agent tight end Jimmy Graham, who is a mile behind the former Viking.
Unfortunately, Moss never earned a Super Bowl ring despite an oh-so-close opportunity in 2007 with the Patriots and again in 2012 with the San Francisco 49ers. And that’s probably why he has insightful advice for Adams, who also hasn’t hoisted a Lombardi Trophy.
Adams’ Raiders are forecasted to win 6.5 games this season, right around the same prediction for the Vikings.
