Vikings are on a Roll with JJ McCarthy in the House
Vikings Territory Breakdown Podcast
The Vikings drafted JJ McCarthy on April 25th and then Minnesota men’s pro sports team proceeded to go undefeated (Wolves 5-0 and Twins ultimately compiling a 12-game winning streak) until the Twins were finally beat by the Red Sox on May 5. Coincidence? We think not. Those of us in Purple Nation see it as a harbinger of things to come in Minnesota professional sports. A time when the non-champion monkey can climb off the collective backs of Minnesota sports fans. A time when . . . okay, perhaps it is a coincidence, but a darn good one.
Purple Nation is indeed excited about McCarthy, excited about the draft and excited about the team that Kwesi and Company have assembled for the start of offseason team activities. There are strengths and weaknesses to the roster, for sure, but plenty to like and even more to discuss. And that’s what the fellas from Vikings Territory Breakdown podcast (Joe Oberle, senior writer at vikingsterritory.com and purplePTSD.com and Mark Craig, NFL and Vikings writer for the Star Tribune and startribune.com) are here to do.
We will look at the roster (which will certainly undergo more tweaks as they move forward) and see where the 2024 Vikings are strongest, where they are weakest and what still needs to be done. With precious few draft picks coming in the next couple years ahead, it is a fervent hope that GM Kwesi Adolfo-Mensah has built a strong foundation this season and will supplement it going forward.
But the focus is the now. Tune into the VT Breakdown podcast and see where Craig has the Vikings heading into OTAs. And keep cheering for the Wolves and Twins—it’s a great time to be a Minnesota sports fan!
