Free Agency is Coming for Kwesi; What’s In Store for the Purple?

Vikings Territory Breakdown Podcast

We have noted here and elsewhere that this offseason is a big one for the Vikings and, in particular, a huge one for general manager Kwesi Adolfo-Mensah. His draft record is sketchy, at best, and his free agency record rates higher, but there have not yet been in the Executive of the Year category (we are looking at you, Detroit Lions Brad Holmes).

Kwesi has to upgrade his track record in both areas this offseason for the Vikings to improve and the fan base to get off his back. And that improvement starts next weekend when he heads to Indianapolis for the Combine, followed by free agency and the new league year, which being on March 13.

So, Kwesi’s first big test is in free agency—and he has a lot of holes to fill. Since we can’t say for certain what he will do (besides look at numbers since he is an analytics guy), let’s take a look at what he has done in first two season as GM of the Purple. There are some wins (Jordan Hicks) and some losses (Marcus Davenport—okay, big losses), but come March he gets a chance to add to the wins.

So, the fellas at the Vikings Territory Breakdown podcast (Joe Oberle, senior writer at vikingsterritory.com and purplePTSD.com and Mark Craig, NFL and Vikings writer for the Star Tribune and startribune.com) will take a look back at Kwesi’s record in free agency. Perhaps it will give us a guide to his way forward. The Vikings have some cap space. How is Kwesi going to use it? Tune in and check out our thoughts.
