The Minnesota Vikings head to London and look to improve to 5-0. If they are going to do so, it will be, in part, because Brian Flores is able to keep the New York Jets confused. For the first time as the defensive coordinator with the Vikings, Flores will face Aaron Rodgers.

Brian Flores Meets Aaron Rodgers with Minnesota

Last season, Aaron Rodgers took his talents to New York. He immediately tore his Achilles and was out for the entire year. Now back for just his fifth game since the injury, Rodgers will face his toughest test of the season. Sure, the Vikings are 4-0 because Sam Darnold has been amazing, and he has great weapons. That doesn’t change just how much of an impact Brian Flores has had on Minnesota’s defense.

A season ago, the former Dolphins head coach was able to get the most out of a unit that lacked depth. Given their injuries and personnel, the Vikings finished 7-10 and should have been much worse off. Flores had his group flying all over the place, though, and it set Minnesota up for a significant step forward this year.

Given how good Stephon Gilmore has been on the edge, the rest of the cornerback room has been able to settle into more tertiary roles. He has been one of the most impressive performers thus far, and Rodgers will be tasked with finding Garret Wilson despite seeing ridiculous matchups for most of the game.

Flores has also set up his defense to bring down the quarterback at a breakneck pace. That means Aaron Rodgers and his bum Achilles could be running for his life. Through four weeks, he has already been sacked ten times, and he has yet to see a defense quite like the Vikings. Denver held the Jets to just nine points on Sunday, and Rodgers couldn’t figure out a way to put the ball in the end zone.

The reality is that this game will be a chance for Flores to send his best at a legendary quarterback. Rodgers leaves plenty to be desired when he speaks, but the man is a magician on the field. Thankfully for the Vikings, so too is their defensive coordinator.
