Vikings RB Has Suggestion for Aaron Rodgers

Vikings RB Has Suggest for Aaron Rodgers

Dalvin Cook is close to a sure-thing for returning to the Minnesota Vikings in 2022, but his NFC North counterpart Aaron Rodgers is not.

The NFL is on RodgersWatch – for a second time in as many years – as the eventual Hall of Fame quarterback decides his future. Rodgers and the Packers have not reached a Super Bowl in 11 years, even though the QB1 is a Top 3 passer each season. So, Rodgers on the Packers is stale, at least in terms of never reaching the Super Bowl after winning one in 2010.

As a result, Rodgers began grumbling last spring about perhaps wanting a change of scenery. In April 2021, it was apparent Rodgers was disillusioned with Packers brass, nearly requesting a trade or choosing retirement as a career path.

And that’s where the NFL community is at again. Will Rodgers retire, request a trade, or return to Green Bay this September? Nobody knows – but millions care.

The aforementioned Cook has some jocular advice for the 38-year-old Rodgers: Just go to Denver.

Cook was asked about Rodgers future recently and responded:

“I’m hoping he goes to Denver or something like that. Aaron you hear this? Just go to Denver or something. Just go on and get out of the division and let us get our division back. That’ll be okay. Thank you. I don’t care where he goes, just get out of the [division]. Just stay out of the [division], take Davante Adams with you, and y’all go do your thing wherever y’all are going to go, and just let the men in purple [take] their division back.”

Rodgers is a bonafide menace to the Vikings. While the Mike Zimmer-led regime stifled Rodgers to a degree – at least compared to 2008-2013 – Minnesota is still plagued by Green Bay’s prolific signal-caller. In 27 career starts versus Minnesota, Rodgers has delivered a sacrilegious 56 touchdown passes to just seven interceptions. The pace slowed when Zimmer arrived on the scene, but Rodgers remains a Vikings killer.

Because Rodgers is so steady and productive, Cook would like to see the man head to a different conference. He doesn’t have to retire, but he must leave the Midwest – is the playful takeaway from Cook’s musings.

If Rodgers does retire or accept a trade to the AFC, the NFC North becomes unabashedly wide open. The Detroit Lions are hungry, the Chicago Bears hope their new quarterback figures out the NFL in a hurry, and the Vikings are under new management.

Led by the Jordan Love, the Packers grip on the division would relinquish, leaving the NFC North for the taking. And that’s probably why Cook is excited about the possibility of a Rodgers-Denver trade.

Rodgers is said to be mere days from making a decision.
