In what would be the ultimate twist of fate, the Minnesota Vikings are reportedly involved in trade talks to land Philadelphia Eagles WR Jalen Reagor.

Reagor was drafted the pick before Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The rumor of trade discussions was reported by Let’s Go to the Phones, a reputable sports podcast in Philadelphia.

An underachiever to date, Reagor would theoretically add an unforeseen zigzag to the Vikings 2022 offensive plans. In college, he was an unabashed deep threat with game-changing speed, especially on vertical routes. But so far with the Eagles, Reagor has only been targeted 111 times in two years. The Vikings have tallied Jefferson 196 times. Reagor’s 111 targets rank 104th in the NFL since the start of 2020.

The TCU alumnus has registered 64 catches for 695 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 28 career games. He’d instantly become the Vikings WR4 behind Jefferson, Adam Thielen, and K.J. Osborn if traded to Minnesota — and maybe even WR3 if his draft scouting report fully materialized.

Ironically, Reagor was the pick “laughed at” by the Vikings old leadership regime on draft night in 2020. The draft was virtual because of the coronavirus pandemic, and then-GM Rick Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer giggled at the Eagles passing on Justin Jefferson.

Philadelphia has already been busy on Tuesday, trading a 5th-Round pick in 2023 and a 6th-Round pick in 2024 to the New Orleans Saints for safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. Thereafter, former Vikings safety Anthony Harris was released to make room for Garnder-Johnson.

The Vikings play the Eagles in Philadelphia three weeks from now on Monday Night Football.
