Vikings and Eagles Week 2 Injury Reports

Could Move Down
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports,

Four days until the Vikings will play the Philadelphia Eagles in Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The last two regular season matchups were won by the Vikings, while the Eagles won the big one in the 2017 playoffs.

Both teams won their opening game. The Vikings beat the Packers comfortably with a fantastic Justin Jefferson. The Eagles, meanwhile, almost blew a big lead against the Lions. After the final whistle, the scoreboard showed a 38-35 victory.

The two teams are among the healthiest teams in the league. After Thursday’s practice, the teams had to give out their first injury report of the week. Usually, they have to do that on Wednesday, but because the game will take place on Monday, everything is pushed one day ahead.

Minnesota Vikings Injury Report

In the season opener, the only Vikings player that missed the game was safety Lewis Cine. The first-round rookie aggravated a minor knee injury. The team didn’t go any risk and ruled him out against the Packers. Cornerback Andrew Booth suffered a quad injury in the season opener. He only played two snaps on special teams and did not make an appearance on defense.

The latest injury report is still relatively short. Jonathan Bullard was questionable heading into the game against the Packers. The defensive lineman earned a starting spot in training camp and played 29 defensive snaps in Week 1. He recorded just one tackle and didn’t make a significant impact on the game.

However, it was just one game and he could play a bigger role this week with more practice time. His availability in the Packers game and his status as a full participant on Thursday mean he’s fully on track to face the strong Eagles offensive line.

Lewis Cine was also a full participant. Barring any surprising setbacks, his NFL debut will take place on Monday. He talked to the media and confirmed it.

Expect Camryn Bynum to stay the starting safety, but Cine will play a role. The Vikings likely have plans to play with three safeties simultaneously. Someone could be lined up as a nickel cornerback or a linebacker. The move would either bring more physicality or more speed. Both can be a big factor because the opponent runs a run-heavy offense with a mobile quarterback.

Andrew Booth, meanwhile, the second-rounder, did not practice.

He’s the lone player on the injury report. On the depth chart, he was supplanted by fellow rookie Akayleb Evans. Evans was also the replacement of Cameron Dantzler when he needed a few plays off. His absence would probably not make a big difference. However, it won’t help his development. We’ll learn more about his potential availability in the next few days.

Philadelphia Eagles

Like the Vikings, the Eagles are one of the healthiest teams in the league. In the game in Detroit, pass rusher Derek Barnett tore his ACL. He will miss the entire season. The Eagles selected him in the 2017 draft with the pick they received from the Vikings for Sam Bradford.

Seven players had just a limited practice for rest purposes. They will be available on Monday and most likely practice on Friday. Tight end Jack Stoll missed some parts of practice with an ankle injury. Like the Vikings tight end Ben Ellefson, he’s mainly a blocking tight end and plays on running plays.
