Our Staff Prediction for Vikings at Lions

Our Staff Prediction for Vikings at Lions
Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports.

The VikingsTerritory collective staff prediction for the Minnesota Vikings date with the Detroit Lions is ready.

The Vikings can hit an 11-2 record this weekend for the first time since 2009. The franchise has started with an 11-2 record or better on seven occasions — 1969, 1970, 1973, 1975, 1998, 2000, and 2009. Minnesota is 80-40-2 (.663) all-time versus Detroit.

The Lions are 5-7 through 13 weeks, eliminated from the NFC North race but maintaining a teensy chance at the playoffs. The Vikings, at 10-2, have won two consecutive games after a humbling beatdown by the Dallas Cowboys in Week 11.

The writers at VikingsTerritory predict the Vikings will win their 11th game of 2022.

Most of our contributors picked Minnesota over Detroit, evidently confident that the Lions four wins in the last five games are a mirage.

Here’s how the panel sees the score for Week 14:

Dustin Baker: Lions Win, 30-27
Sean Borman: Lions Win, 28-27
Dominique Clare: Vikings Win, 40-23
Janik Eckardt: Vikings Win, 34-26
Josh Frey: Lions Win, 28-24
Will Goodwin: Vikings Win, 37-34
Kyle Joudry: Vikings Win, 28-27
Mitch Massman: Vikings Win, 34-27
Adam New: Vikings Win, 33-30
Ted Schwerzler: Vikings Win, 21-20
Ali Siddiqui: Lions Win, 30-24
Cole Smith: Vikings Win, 37-27

Mathematically en masse, we predict the Vikings top the Lions by a score of 30-28.
