Justin Jefferson is No Longer Atop the Pro Bowl Podium
Not too long ago, we learned that Justin Jefferson – Minnesota’s best player – was leading all NFL players in Pro Bowl voting. Many overlook the game (a game that isn’t actually occurring this year) and yet it can still be fun to see a fan favorite get recognition.
More recently, we learned that Jefferson lost his grip on the #1 spot. The gold medal is currently around Tua Tagovailoa’s neck:
In fairness, Tua is having a sensational season. The sophomore QB has 2859 passing yards, 21 TDs, and 5 INTs. His 68.1 completion percentage is excellent, and so too is his 112.0 quarterback rating. He is deserving of recognition for his level of play in 2022.
Justin Jefferson currently sits in the 2nd spot for Pro Bowl voting. At present, the former LSU receiver has 88 catches, 1277 yards, and 6 TDs. At times, Kevin O’Connell has even relied on Jefferson to pass the ball. His 2 throws have both been completed and gone for 34 yards. He almost had a 3rd throw, but the WR wisely chose to run:
Of course, the season isn’t done yet. It’s plausible that Justin Jefferson will once again take over the top spot in the Pro Bowl voting before it’s all said and done.
One thing most Vikings fans can agree upon is that the third-year WR deserves to be a first-team All Pro in 2022. Getting the All Pro honor is more notable than making it to the Pro Bowl. As long as he finishes the year with some similar excellence, Jefferson ought to be a shoo-in for both honors.
