Week 16 Vikings Injury Report: Five Players Listed on Thursday
The Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants have each released their second of three injury reports prior to their Week 16 game at U.S. Bank Stadium this upcoming Saturday. On the second Week 16 Vikings injury report, Cam Dantzler is listed among five Vikings players. Those players and their statuses are as follows:
- LB Brian Asamoah- Full (ankle)
- C Garrett Bradbury- DNP (back)
- LB Eric Kendricks- Limited (hip)
- CB Dam Dantzler- Limited (ankle)
- WR Adam Thielen- Limited (NIR-rest)
It appears we may have been premature with the celebration of Dantzler not being on Tuesday’s injury report because he is back on the list 24 hours later on Wednesday. The ankle injury that landed him on IR for four weeks continues to linger with him, and if he remains limited in Thursday’s practice, do not be surprised if Duke Shelley makes a start at cornerback once again this Saturday. Shelley started last Saturday against the Colts and appeared in all 79 of the Vikings defensive snaps.
Additionally, we need to begin preparing for the possibility that Garrett Bradbury will miss his third consecutive game. He was a listed as a “DNP” once again on Wednesday, and after his car accident aggravated his back injury following last weekend’s game, the ailment continues to keep him sidelined. In his stead, expect Austin Schlottmann to get another start.
In positive news, rookie LB Brian Asamoah was a full participant on Wednesday after being listed as limited on Tuesday with an ankle injury of his own. Asamoah played a career high 21 defensive snaps against Indianapolis, and that number may continue to climb this weekend.
That is especially the case if Eric Kendricks continues to be hindered by his hip injury. The veteran linebacker was limited with the injury once again on Wednesday. In other changes, Patrick Jones II was taken off the injury report completely as he seems to be fully recovered from his illness, and Adam Thielen was limited with a rest day.
On the other side, the New York Giants injury report looks exactly the same on Wednesday as it did on Tuesday. The same six players are present with the same six statuses. If you need a refresher, they are listed down below:
- CB Adoree Jackson- DNP (knee)
- OL Shane Lemieux- DNP (toe)
- OT Evan Neal- Limited (shoulder)
- OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux- Limited (elbow)
- TE Nick Vannett- Limited (shoulder)
- DL Leonard Williams- Limited (neck)
Due to their missing practice for a second consecutive day this week, CB Adoree Jackson and OL Shane Lemieux look like they will miss this week’s game against the Vikings. For Jackson, it will be his fifth consecutive game that he will be out with his knee injury. Meanwhile, Lemieux has appeared in just one game this season. That game was Week 11 against the Detroit Lions where he started and played 39 offensive snaps.
Both the Giants 2022 first-round picks remain limited on Wednesday as well. Evan Neal continues to deal with his shoulder injury while Kayvon Thibodeaux is working through an elbow issue. Neither injury seems to put the rookies statuses for Saturday in danger at this point, though.
This sets up a matchup between the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week (QB Kirk Cousins) going up against Thibodeaux, the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week. Against the Commanders the Giants edge rusher recorded 12 tackles, 3 TFLs, a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a defensive touchdown in the 20-12 win on Sunday Night Football.
Both the Giants and Vikings will release one more injury report on Thursday, and then the two teams are set to face off on Saturday, December 24th at U.S. Bank Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 PM CST.
