Q: Does the return of Patrick Peterson put the Vikings in good shape for CBs? Are they all set?
A: Yes, it puts the team in pretty damn good shape — for fielding a group of starting corners in September.
Now, they can lob a cherry on top of the thing by drafting a CB in 1st or 2nd Round of the NFL Draft. Then, the Vikings, in theory, should be set for the short-term — and long-term — per cornerback outlook.
Remember this, though. With injuries and such, Minnesota probably requires one more sturdy starting cornerback for September to be considered a real contender.
For the record: we were wrong on Peterson. We believed, amid the last 10 days or so, that he would sign with another team. That was incorrect — in the best way possible.
Q: Is it true that Adrian Peterson wants to retire a Viking?
A: Yes.
At an autograph session in the Twin Cities last weekend, Peterson stated his desire to retire with the VIkings.
But he also complimented Dalvin Cook, insinuating there likely isn’t a place for Peterson on the current depth chart. So, when Peterson is ready to retire — which is probably soon — he’d likely sign one of those dinker one-day deals and retire with eternal horns on his helmet.
Q: Is Minneapolis going to actually host the NFL Draft one of these days?
A: Yes, they will. It’s just a matter of when.
Hosting the draft in Minneapolis will likely occur in the next five years. Detroit was awarded the 2024 NFL Draft, but the Vikings applied for 2025, 2026, and 2027 events.
Bet on the Twin Cities chosen in one of those offseasons. It’s coming.
