Wednesday is a huge day for the Vikings. Not only does Christian Darrisaw return to practice this afternoon, but now the Vikings have officially reached a deal on a contract extension with right tackle, Brian O’Neill.

The former second-round pick has been a stabilizing force on the right side of the offensive line ever since he got to Minnesota. With O’Neill being on the final year of his rookie deal, an extension seemed imminent this week.

O’Neill’s extension is for five years, and it is worth a whopping $92.5 million dollars. It keeps one of the NFL’s top RTs in Minnesota through 2026, and it makes him the second-highest paid player at the position behind only Ryan Ramczyk. The contract also guarantees him $49 million.

O’Neill spoke on the extension himself and was ecstatic, saying this offensive line has him the most excited he’s ever been in Minnesota.

This also means the Vikings offensive line should remain mostly intact for years to come. Every player is now under contract through the 2022 season while all of Christian Darrisaw, Wyatt Davis, Ezra Cleveland, and O’Neill have deals through 2023.
