It’s time we gave Dalvin a better nickname
It’s time we cam up with a nickname for Dalvin Cook
Since posting back-to-back games that completely broke Minnesota Vikings internet, Dalvin Cook has been the subject of countless articles from local and national media. One thing that I’ve noticed, though, is that those especially in the local sports media have yet to agree on a nickname for Cook.
Adrian Peterson was “All Day/AD/AP”. Randy Moss was “The Freak”. Teddy Bridgewater was “Teddy Two Gloves”. Dalvin? Sure, he has been referred to as “The Chef”, but I don’t really think that that conveys much outside of his name. We need something that also touches on his dominance, his talent, his MVP status.
Help in this regard may have actually come from Adrian Peterson/AD himself, as he was asked about Dalvin Cook in the lead up to last weekends Vikings/Lions game and said the following:
Adrian Peterson on Dalvin Cook: "He's a lethal weapon."
— Courtney Cronin (@CourtneyRCronin) November 5, 2020
Dalvin was asked what his thoughts were on that comment, and gushed:
“Lethal weapon, yeah that made me feel great.”
So, it has the thumbs up from Cook himself!
Dalvin also referred to Peterson as his nickname in his response, which may have been a subliminal nod that he was hoping “Lethal Weapon” would stick:
“Like I said, I can’t say enough about him. We can sit here and I can tell you so much about him, how I feel about him. I’m just, if he hear this or he don’t, I’m just glad that I got a chance to watch him growing up as a young kid. To see that, it was something special for me. He don’t know how he impacted my career as far as a running back. I appreciate him for everything. Just for being my big brother for anything. All Day, just keep doing you, man, and I appreciate it.”
Let’s just hope that if/when this name does take off, we don’t end up hearing a ton of “I’m THIS close to retiring” * from Cook anytime soon.
*For those of you under the age of 30, that’s a reference to Danny Glover’s character from the ‘Lethal Weapon’ franchise.
