After a busy offseason for the Minnesota Vikings that included moving into a new team headquarters, landing two of the most prolific free agents in team history, losing a starting offensive lineman to a season-ending injury, losing a coach, trading for a center, dishing out extensions and going 3-1 in the preseason, it’s finally time to set the regular season roster.
Due to a loaded roster primed with quality players and ample competition, there were undoubtedly some very difficult decisions for the coaches and front office staff to make. Following Thursday’s fourth and final preseason game, the Vikings started bringing some clarity to the much-anticipated solution.
The allocation of players onto the regular season roster as well as the 10-man practice squad began Friday. Here’s who was cut by the team, who will make up the practice squad and players that will ultimately make the Vikings 53-man roster. Please note things may change as the team places waivers on players that were released around the league this weekend. These lists will update as news breaks.
The Vikings open the regular season at home against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, September 9th at noon (CST).

Isn't C. Jones on the suspended list also ~
He's now cut, which I figured would be the case
WR Cayleb Jones is not a shock to me ~ Now with all his off the field problems ~ He and his brother will both miss out on making million because they couldn't keep their minds focused on football ~ Both have the talent to play in the NFL but don't have the head for the games ~
Looks like Beebe and Zylstra chances of making the team just when up ~
A bit surprised to see Williams cut, especially before the rest of the linebackers' fates were decided.
I was never sure about Williams ~ Never knew much about him outside of him being a late round draft pick of the Lions ~ Oh and the sack he got fined for ~
BRob was a shock ~
A mild surprise, only, given what Bower and Weatherly showed in the pre-season and, apparently, camp. I'd be more surprised if Newman or Sherels were cut, just because I think Hill is still too raw to rely on this year.
I was shocked by Odenigbo being cut. I hope he isn't scooped up by some other team and instead ends up on the PS for one more year. This move says to me that the FO is certain that some other team(s) is (are) enamored with Jayln Holmes and they didn't think he could make it to the PS. Damn.
I wonder what the difference is between CFL salaries and NFL practice squad salaries? It might be time for Williams and Cliett - talk about a journeyman! - to give up on the NFL dream and head north if the money is comparable and they want to actually PLAY professional football before the body starts really breaking down. The same could be said for King, too.
The annual NFL PS minimum of almost $130,000 is still more than the average CFL salary of $91,000 (CAN), and that includes QB's. Back to the grind in the States then, it seems.
Wow that's crazy ~ I would have thought the CFL would paid more than that ~
so, we've got our 2018 team. now let's get that first title!
