You guys don’t show enough respect for Rick Spielman, or that’s my notion. The job of picking talent is far harder than you seem to suggest. With the benefit of hindsight, we all can pick winners, but anyone who analyses the success rates of other general managers quickly learns how hard the job is. I’m not sure anyone could have gotten a good lineman in the most recent draft. It was a pretty screwy draft by historical standards. When I read how other experts rate Spielman’s draft this year they are much kinder than most Vikings fans. About a week ago someone came out with a rating of all the general managers. Spielman was ranked the third-best in the league, which is not too shabby.
