2018 NFL Draft: Vikings Select OT Brian O’Neill

Despite a run of offensive linemen to begin round two, the Vikings stayed put to fill their most glaring roster need. With the team’s second pick, 62nd overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings selected Pittsburgh offensive tackle Brian O’Neill.

O’Neil is 6-7, 300 pounds. He played left tackle for the Panthers in 2017 after playing right tackle in 2015 and 2016. In three years at Pitt, O’Neil started in 37 consecutive games at tackle. He played tight end in high school, where he was also a standout basketball player.

O’Neil showed off his athleticism at the NFL Combine, recording the fastest 40-yard dash time among offensive linemen (4.82 seconds). At 7.14 seconds he also had the quickest time in the 3-cone drill. He put up 22 reps on the bench press and had a 29.5 inch vertical jump.

Last night the Vikings picked UCF cornerback Mike Hughes at number 30 in the first round.
