Jared Allen Announces His Retirement

Long time Viking defensive end Jared Allen announced his retirement via a video on twitter this morning. In typical Allen fashion, he did it in a unique way whole riding a horse into a non-existent sunset.

Allen, who played 12 seasons in the NFL, spent the majority of his career wearing purple and gold from 2008-2013. Serving as one of the leagues most feared pass rushers, Allen ranks 10th overall in all time sacks and I personally think he will get serious consideration for the hall of fame.

After departing from the Vikings in 2013, he spent time with Chicago and most recently played his last game with the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

Allen will likely go down as an all time great for the Vikings and his NFL legacy will surely live on regardless of what happens with the Hall of Fame.

Continue to check in with Vikings Territory as we’ll have more discussion and opinions on where Allen ranks all time.
