Even with plenty of concerns about whether or not Christian Ponder has what it takes to be a long term solution at quarterback, the Vikings brass has done a great job of keeping quarterback controversies at bay for all of 2012.
Welcome to 2013.
Numerous rumors and “reports” are floating around that Christian Ponder’s “questionable” status was actually more legitimate than many originally thought. Apparently his elbow bursitis, and the need to drain that elbow, could be enough to keep him off the field tonight.
Yes, that means Joe Webb is being rumored to start against the Packers in the biggest game of the year.
We’ll know a concrete answer soon enough, but if you weren’t anxious enough about this game, these rumors are certainly making life interesting for Vikings fans on this Saturday afternoon.

Yep, it's looking like it wasn't some sort of misleading by Fraizer and Ponder may be sitting this out.
One word Ponder;
Cortizone!
We going to have a live chat today Adam?
No I don't think so... I think Johnny was the only person that RSVP'd... night games, big games tend to mean nobody shows up to live chats
I'm cool with that. Such a huge game, it'll be hard to take my eyes off it.
I have people coming, I just assumed you were showing up, Fran.
Oh well, I'll drink your whiskey for you. Cheers to a Viking victory!
I just checked Alaska Airlines Tomb, sorry can't make it.
The cold weather isn't going to do that elbow any favors. They already had some interesting decisions to make on deactivations today since Winfield may not get through the entire game. I assumed they would fill McKenzie's open spot with Burton (the CB), but if they are going to let Ponder try it they should probably have JBT active today as well.
I don't really see any reason to have three QB's active, since the rules allow you to play your QB3 anyways if it comes to that. I was thinking Cole might end up active today, filling in for McKenzie.
Adam I believe they eliminated that rule on the #3 QB when they increased the # of active players a team could have by one last year. The list won't be out for a while yet.
That's right, you are correct... he probably will be active then.
Is there an active list out yet Dan?
Things could get very interesting if Webb has to start. I sure wish Webb could have seen some action during the year, he has to be rusty as hell.
Luckily, Webb got quite a few touches with the 1st team this past week, so at least he won't be going in totally cold, if he has to go in.
We can just have AD start at qb, it will save us the handoff.
Just having some minor panic attacks... no worries.
I didn't plan on having a drink until an hour before gametime, but had to crack a beer an hour ago. You know, something to do while I'm pacing.
I've been boxing with my new xbox. I'm good to go.
Relax Tomb. Relax. Leslie's got this.
You start beers now and you won't even see Blair's game winning kick.
Yeah Tomb, its not like he can do any better than BR
Webb is awesome, except when he's atrocious.
I have NO idea how this game is going to go, outside of heavy doses of AD.
Don't worry Coach, Tomb's been practicing his gametime drinking all season long, and I'm fully prepared for postseason drinking. You should see my halftime adjustments.
The stuff of legend is what it is.
If you guy are following the twitter feed at the bottom of this page, it says Joe Webb is on the field as I write this, throwing to Simpson. They are the only 2 players on the field. Saw a short clip of Ponder throwing 30 minutes ago and he looked real weak (Throwing) and none too happy. Smart money says Webb is our starter.
I was going to mention I really love that feature on this website.
Brett, you are getting props for something. look! LOOK!
I hear a collective 'FAA-aaaa.....'
......ck
Webb and MBT are now on the field throwing to Rudolph and Simpson. No sign of Ponder.
The thought of Webb starting makes me excited and nervous at the same time.
That is EXACTLY where I'm coming from Cart.
Just think how it makes the Packers D and D-coordinator feel.
